50 mph gusts! I hope my redwood tree does not fall on my house.

The weather here has changed since I wrote my early morning post. It's now partly sunny with no rain. But the wind has kicked up and is gusting like I've only seen here a few times. I just checked, and the weather website says the gusts are up to 50 mph right now.
Four feet from my balcony is a lone redwood tree. It stands forty or fifty feet tall and is home to Kitty's nemesis, Mr. Squirrel. The trouble with redwood trees is that they have shallow root systems. In their native habitat, their roots reach out to the roots of other redwood trees, and they literally engage in "teamwork" to keep each other standing.
A lone redwood tree is an oddity, and vulnerable to the wind.
My redwood tree is swaying slowly with the gusts. Fortunately, it seems to be swaying in a northwest/southeast direction, which means it would fall beside my house, not on it. But one never knows.
I'll be heading off to Guitar Center pretty soon. I hope I don't come home to squished guitars and stereo gear. An especially a squished kitty. Wish us luck!
Photo is of Kitty with the redwood tree behind her on a calm day.

Kitty is such a beauty. Best of luck and I hope the redwood does not topple. Enjoy the Guitar Center. Our palms here look like you could just push them over but they stand up to hurricane-force winds when they come so I think that redwood could not possibly fall over.

I hope that the redwood tree does not collapse and hit your home this evening.

@Deepizzaguy But driving was "hecka" dangerous this evening. Stoplights are out all around where I live.

This is why I am not a fan of wind. I could do without it.

Hope it stays upright. Or at the least misses everything if it falls

Those big gusts are scary when you are next to a big tree. We have some trees that could hit our house if they fell.

That is not so tall for a redwood tree, only a baby. If it had its mother beside it, that might do a whole lot more damage if it fell on your house. I believe redwoods can get close to 400 feet in height.
