Osteoarthritis

My mother had been complaining of pain in her cervical spine and neck. The doctor sent her to do an x-ray and osteoarthritis was detected in the cervical spine.
She does water gymnastics and the doctor recommends she keep going but also prescribed her thermal water treatments. As the treatment was prescribed by our family doctor, my mom will only pay a small fee, otherwise, it is a very expensive treatment.
Do any of you have this health issue? what do you do to relieve the pain?

I do not that I know of..but who knows..the doctor here is not very efficient.
Glad Mom will only pay a small fee but sorry she has this.
Yes the water is always helpful.
Pain I get is arthritis in my shoulder and knee but only slight so I can use Bio freeze cream and Ibuprofen.

@RebeccasFarm, Biofreeze is to die for. I can't get another shot for my shoulders until the end of the month. Until then, I bought a Mueller Adjustable Posture Corrector. It has been helpful, but I have not discussed it with my orthopedist yet.

I'm glad the doctor prescribed something that should help with your mom's pain. I hope the treatment works well for her.

@DaddyEvil yes, it breaks my heart, I try to help her in every way I can but it is awful when the pain does not go away.

Oh, yeah! I sure do. Sorry to hear about your mom, though. I can only imagine (based on my twenty +/- years of living with osteoarthritis) how your mother must feel physically and emotionally.
I have a high pain tolerance and threshold, so I can get by without medication most of the time. Both of my knees had to be replaced, and I get shots in my shoulders. I eat arthritis-fighting foods, take Epsom salt baths, use the R.I.C. E. method (see link below) and a heating pad when necessary.
Most of all, I also don't keep still. While growing up, whenever we felt sick, my grandmother would say, "get up and move around, and maybe you will feel better."

@nela13 You're welcome. I am sorry to hear that your mother seems so sad. I hope she can get the help she needs for that, too. Mental health problems can worsen arthritis symptoms, so it is important to take care of the emotional and physical pain.

Not that kind of health issue that causes pain. Maybe just going to a hot tub would give her relief and be much less expensive.

I'm sorry to hear that your mom has been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I hope the thermal water treatments help and it's good that she'll only have to pay a small amount.

It is an expensive treatment, it is very good that it is supported by our health care system.
