Murder in the Morning

Blame me if you wish but I confess I was so angry I committed a murder in the morning two days ago when no one in my house and in the neighborhood was up from bed. The creature annoyed me to hell and I did what my impulses proded me to do. A mouse entered my room in the middle of the night . Or were they two mice for I heard a noise of angry quarrel between them. The vanquished one had to leave the battlefield. The victorious one pushed down biscuit containers, pickle bottles and skittered around the room making enough racket to disturb my sleep . I got up to drive it away but it hid in some dark corner and stayed there until I got tired and went to bed again. But I couldn't sleep for the devil of the mouse was still in the room. In the morning at 5 I found the fellow fallen in a bucket half filled with water, struggling to jump out . I picked a thick lathi and pinned the creature to the bottom of the water. I murdered it mercilessly and emptied the bucket in the backyard ! Like they say the criminal invariably leaves a clue behind. I thought nobody knew of my " crime". But the woman of the house asked me during the day, " Did you kill a mouse last night?" I had to nod my head!
