Riga Canal at the Central Market

One of the picturesque spots to take a photo of the Riga Canal was at the Central Market. Here is the view looking down the canal. On the left are three hangars from the market. In these hangars, all sorts of foods and merchandise were sold. There were more hangars that made up the market selling meat, vegetables, and fish. Beyond the hangars was a huge open space where vendors sold goods of all kinds in the open air. Even though the age of supermarkets had arrived there was nothing like shopping at the Central Market that in itself was an adventure. I particularly enjoyed looking down at the canal when many ducks gathered to swim mostly throughout the summertime. Are there any large markets like this where you live?

That Central Market reminds me of going to a State Fair... Otherwise, no, nothing like that where I live.

There are. But most are not as pretty. I do enjoy watching the ducks in our canals in Spring.

Yes we have an historic market on the west side of Cleveland. Dozens of merchants have stalls there.

Beutiful scenery to have a market. The closest one we have is just a big parking lot where tables are set up for a Farmers Market.

If Riga was on Scotland it would be the second largest city. That market looks impressive A market in our town in 3 small stalls with a table and a canvas roof.

@JimBo452020 it is very large and it has been improved and even gotten modernized over the years and still is the best place to go shopping over all the usual supermarkets,

Food, food, food. That's my kind of market. Love those type of adventures. We have a farmer's market on the weekend and a State Fair each summer. We have Basque people in the area and they have their markets. Really good food.

Yours is an interesting market. Ours are simple Sunday open markets, generally they sell plants, fruits, clothings and secondhand stuff.
