When everything gets too hot to handle...

Who can relate? My most dreaded time of the year is here again. Summer... Dry season! And the heat index hasn't even peaked yet but I'm already melting. It get so hot even the littlest movement will make you break into buckets of sweat. For someone asthmatic and with all sorts of allergies like me, extreme heat is also a trigger. There are times I feel like I cannot breathe. It really makes me feel unwell. I turn to nothing but our AC to cool down. Then the electricity bill would make me sick hahaha Electric fans can only do so much and the photo above perfectly depicts it. Photo not mine. Credit to the owner.

I can relate to the hot days during the summer since the heat can be deadly outside.

@pitsipeahie Yes that is true since the city officials warn the persons to take care of themselves outdoors when a heat warning is in place.

I grew up in Delhi and the place is well known for its extreme temperatures. I hate summer and hot weather makes me feel sick and loose appetite. Fortunately, the city where I have been living in the last eight years has a wonderful pleasant weather throughout the year. It never goes into extreme temperatures.

I agree, the next months here in Delhi will be extremely hot. It's hard to go out of the home during the daytime in summer. You are fortunate that now you are living in a better place.

@sjvg1976 I have two visits to North India in peak summer this time and I dread that . One is in first two weeks of June, attending two family functions in Ranchi and the other is end of July to Delhi and Varanasi for a reunion trip with my college friends.

Hmm... are you always too hot when other people are comfortable? What type of allergies do you have? (I have a lot of allergies and was always way too hot when everyone else felt comfortable. I'd hide in the house with the air conditioner running all the time while my friends were out in the sun having fun.)

@pitsipeahie You sound almost like me... I have all those triggers plus have hyperthyroidism that makes me too hot even when it's not hot and nobody else thinks it's hot. I will drip with sweat at 70F/21C when other people think it's slightly chilly. The hyperthyroidism also causes the membranes around my eyes to swell until my eyes are swollen closed and I can't see anything. That's a lot of fun...

I live in a tropical country so weather's always warm even on rainy season it doesn't really get cold and yes, I'm quite like you too even more during summers as heat index here can go as high as 50-55 Celsius. I'm mostly indoors. 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, off limits, I rarely would go out when sun's at its peak. I'm diagnosed with reactive airways, I have asthma and allergic rhinitis. I have maintenance for this and takes antihistamines almost daily. I've been wearing facemask way before the pandemic as advised by my doctor. I was diagnosed year 2000 - 2002 somewhere around those years, so that's how long I've been wearing facemasks every time I'd go out. Sometimes I'd get away not wearing one but I've already gotten used to it. I'm allergic to dust, dander, pollens, strong smells, smoke, pollution even changes in the weather is a trigger. I've learned to live with chronic cough and clogged nose.

@DaddyEvil I'm sorry to hear that. I don't have hyperthyroidism but my mother does and she's like that too. It's so hard when you feel heat extremely than the typical discomfort many people feel when temperatures rise. Life's hard enough and chronic illnesses even makes it harder. Good luck to us I guess, life goes on.

@florelway Cold foods, salads and fruits, all those are light and refreshing to eat during summer.

I can feel you. I dislike the summer season for the same reason. If only we were near a river or the sea. A dip or swim could be refreshing, but all I got is the aircon and fans, and even then, they are not enough to diminish the humidity. I wish November is here already.

@pitsipeahie Oh, yes, now that you mentioned it. There's a small one for kids, but not for adults. At least, the kids can take a dip there. I will have to bring it out soon.

Relate! 100%. That is why resorts are booming during summer because people just want to cool down. You know those inflatable pools? I thought of buying that just so I can dip in the backyard but ended up deciding not to.

The air is pretty dry here as well but not the kind you are experiencing. Hope you will not mind paying those bills and will keep your AC on

Great photo. I enjoy summer, but when the heat index rises and humidity is high, your right it isn't fun. Fortunately, I have a nearby ocean/beach I can go to and cool off on those days. And I don't suffer from asthma either, so I can enjoy the activities outdoors. Anyway, if it's too hot and you want to save on electricity you can try this

That is a bizarre photo. And yes I can relate. I do not like the hot summers we have. I stay inside as often as possible. The heat is not my friend. Getting too hot can be unhealthy. Take care.
