My fingers are full of cacti thorns.

Dixie "killed" half of the cacti I gave her last year for her balcony. I am quite sure that Humberto watered them too often as he was in charge of that. When I stopped it, half of the cacti had been drowned.
So now I´m making cacti babies to fill the empty containers. But I was careless and now I´m mylotting with only the middle fingers of my both hands. In fact, I´m typing with the nails of those fingers
When I finish taking out the thorns, I´ll continue with the job. In this moment I´m incapable of using my hands.
Do you have cacti, friends? I love them. And they are very easy to grow if you don´t use too much water.

I have a succulent that looks just like the one on the right in your picture but I don't have any with needles. I used to grow prickly pear cactus to eat but kept getting those fine needles in my fingers so finally stopped growing them. Once in a while I'll buy some pads to cook with pork for Pretty and I. YUM!
I hope you get all the needles out of your fingers... Those things drive me crazy when I get stuck!2 people like this

I have cacti and succulents. I was handling a succulent and did not see a cacti near it with many very small thorns. I touched without noticing them I I´m still trying to take them off with my teeth. I love prickly pears but I buy them. I think that they clean them a bit before they sell them because I have never had a problem with their thorns.

@yukimori Humberto, as a doctor, peels them with a fork and a knife. It is like doing surgery. Dixie and I stand by waiting for the peeled tunas (prickly pears)

I do not have any cacti. I couldn't keep them I am sure a thorn would wind up in one of the cats' noses

I agree with you. Cats and cacti don´t go together.

Water is definitely the culprit. My grandmother had a lovely Christmas cactus for many years. She had it at the sink window and watered it about once a week. It bloomed so pretty.

I don't have any cacti right now... just a couple pots of aloe vera. They're kind of sentimental because they're cuttings from the big plant that grew by the front door of the house I lived in as a child. I think the original plant was planted over 50 years ago now.
If you happen to have some white school glue that tends to work really well for getting little cactus spines out of your fingers. Just cover the spot with a bit of the glue, let it dry, and then peel it off. The spines usually get caught in the glue and come out when it's peeled.

Thank for the tip. I know that I have that glue somewhere but I guess I´ll do it better for now by bitting them off with my teeth
I also have some aloe vera but not in containers.

I've always wanted a cactus plant. Do they need any sun?

We usually end up burning them off the pads and fruit as we harvest them. Such a pain to deal with when one gets missed!
