Panera Bread wants to scan your palm.

Is there no end to this stuff? With all the information leak mishaps and scams going on now, why in the world would we knowingly put our palm print out to be scanned for our info, with our name and such linked with it, knowing this? Is a bargain or a discount or a special on sub-par, overpriced food worth this? I don't think so. Why I am surprised, I don't really know, but this is ridiculous.

I wonder how they are legally authorized to do something like that. Should I would be a client, I would stop going.

I think if you agree to it, they can legally do that to give you your ''perks'' and then your info is in their system.

@MarieCoyle Switzerland have new "Privacy Law" that were adopted in 2022, private companies are not even allowed to ask you to accept. Some people are stupid enough not to understand what those companies ask them to agree.

@LadyDuck I feel we all need to be cautious. I do know if someone wants to find us, they no doubt will do that. I lead a clean type of life, I don't have any big secrets in my closet to speak of. But if someone wants my info in their system, I will not offer the info to them, and no scan. Some people don't even hesitate or put any thought into these things, they just do it.

@MarieCoyle No, it won't fizzle. It would be nice if it did.

I think it's a very new thing they just started. I am thinking it may fizzle, but time will tell.

@just4him I think that they often carry technology just too far. It's like nothing can be done without it now. Kids can't even count change if they mess up and the cash register doesn't tell them exactly how much change to give back to the customer. Basic math skills have gone completely out the window.

Oh those loyalty programs, they make a big deal out of the things you'll get for being loyal but in the end ya ain't gettin much, least ways not enough to make loyalty all that worthwhile.

Can't argue about that, most of those loyalty programs are for people who haven't a clue what they're really up to

@rebelann It's all about the money...get your info, sell your info...at least, it's been done before.

It just seems insane to me. To do that because you want a discount on an item that's way overpriced anyway, just ridiculous.

I don't think I ever understood the hype and popularity of the Panera Bread chain restaurants.

Not a big fan of Panera Bread. their menu is overpriced. There is no way I would let them scan my palm. Crazy world we are living in nowadays.

@MarieCoyle Makes sense as to why I wasn't so impressed with their food, frozen not fresh.

@Dena91 Many places have gone to all frozen baked goods as well as other items.

Once upon a time, years ago, it tasted better and wasn't priced more than a steak dinner. Now it's just a place with overpriced bad food, and not enough workers. I just can't imagine why anyone would even want to spend money there.

This can't be legal. Something stinks in this practice.
