Sunday update

Just finished watching a service at Lamb's Chapel on TV so, an update on us. Two weeks ago I had my first chemo. Had extreme chemo brain one day (couldn't remember how to get into checking on line, couldn't even finish a sentence. Very scary.) But thank God it hasn't happened again so far. Went to doc a week later to learn that my WBC white blood count had dropped to zero which is what your body uses to fight infection. I was told to go to ER right away when I started running a fever. We (I wrote a little about that nightmare experience...may it never happen to my greatest enemy) waited there five hours, all the while being exposed to all those germs before being admitted to the hospital. Was in there four nights and came home Friday. I received some injections that thankfully raised my WBC, but still have to be careful around others. Now that my Oncologist sees how the chemo affects me, she can adjust some things to hopefully prevent some of it. But, so far I still have hair! If I do lose it, I have a pretty colorful scarf cap to wear around. That's pretty much it for now. I'm looking forward to cooking dinner today. The food at the hospital was the best of any hospital I've been in, but it was still "hospital food." Lord willing I plan to make meatballs and gravy with rice and a broccoli casserole. A lot of food doesn't taste good since chemo, but maybe these will. Thanks again for all the love and prayers. PS That's me one Christmas. Can you see the little ring and nail polish? I've always been a girly girl!

Aww I’m sorry many foods don’t taste good now . The chemo brain I have never heard of. It sounds terrible . I’m glad it hasn’t happened since. Im glad your white blood count is higher and that the doctor sees how you react now and hopefully has a better understanding for your future treatments. With or without hair you will still be beautiful inside and out!

What a sweet thing to say! My hair has started coming out now, so I'm hoping my hair dresser can cut it short soon. I'm not vain, but I've always been particular about my hair.

@shaggin I guess it's in our DNA as females to need hair. It's another loss during cancer, but it will grow back eventually. I appreciate your kind words.

@1creekgirl Oh thank you. I am glad that the babies brought you cheer. Yesterday they were rolling around on the floor together and got to pulling each other's hair, they were not very cute in that moment. I have never ever seen them do that and I hope that I never do again.

I was my daddy's first favorite subject of his photography, so we had lots of me being a little princess. My sister was 6 years younger and was the very definition of a wild child. She was breaking wild ponies when she was 13.

I am so sorry you had such a bad experience. Do you feel well enough to cook? You should try to rest as much as you can. Pretty photo.

@1creekgirl You have been through so much, better not to push yourself. I hope you will not lose your hair, but there are nice wigs to wear until they grow back.
