Not exactly deep throated roaring motorbikes, so I think these are mopeds. Very likely stolen and then dumped.
The first one looks like it was stripped of parts and set on fire, while the second was rolled into the canal after whoever stole it had their fun.
A while back there was a bit of an epidemic of bikes being stolen, even delivery riders being knocked off of their rides. and more than a few were being used for other crimes, such as grabbing cellphones from people in the street or delivering drugs.
You don’t hear so much about it now. Not sure if that is because we have gotten used to it or it doesn’t happen as much.

I think the reason the stolen mopeds stories do not get much attention is because it does not happen often.

@Ronrybs Thank you for telling me since according to a news article I read a while back, the more injuries or deaths involved, the interest in reporting the news gets.

I saw a YT video of two young men on a moped stealing a phone from a woman's hands as they rode past. The thieves were never caught.
I'm glad that type of crime doesn't happen where I live.

@Ronrybs Yes, I can see the sense in that. I'm glad I don't have to be careful when and where I use my phone.

I hope that whoever is doing these things will stop stealing mopeds and motorbikes,

There some video of a similar incident in Leeds using grinder to steal two bikes. At the first the police said there was little they could do, but after a public outcry the Chief Constable said this was the wrong response. You often see stories of this type of crime being a gateway to bigger illegalities

This is the first time I've heard of it. Whatever the reason, glad to know it has slowed down.

@Ronrybs - You are right thieves are a lot more sophisticated than in the past. We live in a small communities and we hear the noises during the night. I am sure I would hear the door of our garage pushed to open it, but if the bicycle is outside it's too easy to grab and go.
