How to avoid that extra biscuit!

I thought I would just share this little trick that I use to avoid eating more treats than I meant to Sometimes I fancy a little treat, maybe a square or two of chocolate or a couple of biscuits with my coffee. But some days it’s all too easy to have more than I originally intended. I eat the one or two I planned… and then while I have the packet in my hand I may think ‘Oh I’ll just have one more’ (or two more…) Then I learned that the way to avoid that temptation is to take what I plan to eat, put it on a plate, and then put the packet away BEFORE I eat anything. Then I take my treats away and eat them and ‘forget’ that I could easily just get any extra ones. It works for me anyway! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2023.

Didn't work for me yesterday at the Spring Tea I attended at the Centre. I gained 5 pounds!

@Fleura I've been holding steady at 130 but this morning was 135.

This is what I do from many years. I get the small piece of chocolate I intend to eat, go downstairs and place the rest in the atomic shelter now converted in our "pantry". The door is so heavy that I know I would not go there again to have another piece.

@Fleura I want to be sure, I love chocolate too much, and also the hazelnuts wafers.

I've never had any either. But I do notice if my clothes are too tight!

Don't use that method, but I still have an unopened packet of Jaffa Cakes!

Not opening the packet certainly stops you eating them

That trick does work. Out of sight out of mind they say.

I have tried that a few times. It is a good trick, but knowing me, I would still allow myself to go back to get an extra if I wanted it. I like individual serving packs when I can get them and they are not too expensive. Usually, I don't find myself getting another bag of those. I know when it is done, that is it. I really like the 100 calorie serving bags of popcorn for that reason.

That's exactly how I do it... If Pretty hears me open the package or decides she wants something I've got, she takes the rest of the bag and I don't have to worry about letting temptation get the better of me.

That's a good way to not eat more than you intended. I try to do the same thing but someimes I'm not as successful as other times

That's what I do. It works every time. I don't usually buy cookies, but I have been buying dark chocolate candy. I check the serving size on the label, and that's all I eat for the day.

That is a very good plan and l am reading it at the right time, because l had breakfast 2 hours ago and l was about to go for a snack and decided not to. I don't eat much anyway. On my recent doctor's visit , l weighed 111 lbs (l do not have a scale at home)- she said jokingly that l should eat some more - that might not be a good thing though.

Portion control - and I do think that's the best way too! But sometimes I will say hey . . . if I eat all of them now, then there will be no more for me to be tempted with .
