While I’m busy watching severe weather approach (I have the weather radio and three live streams going) I’m here to remind you that YOU ARE IN SOME SERIOUS TROUBLE next month.
I was born in April, and I’m 60 years old (or older
). Therefore, April’s countdown will be 60-year-old songs.
You get to travel with me back to 1963. If you’re wondering, what I remember most about 1963 was cloth diapers.
As usual, you’ll get 20 in alphabetical order, then the top ten at the end of the month.
See you tomorrow…either from here or from wherever we get blown to!
Here’s a song from 1963, and it’s still (as Congress told us) “unintelligible at any speed”:

I'm hoping you're still in your house and your house is still where it was built in the morning.
Have a peaceful night tonight.

Those winds were terrible, and the tornado that came so close to us was so loud. I felt like my ears were blowing up, honestly. If that is coming your way, be safe!!

@MarieCoyle — it is past us, thank God. Little Rock really took a hit.

They just issued a tornado warning three counties over. I’m on my way to my safe space to ride it out.

That was a really close call for us here. Hope your area didn't get any damage or loss of life, and that you are safe.

A tree fell on a house about a mile from me. It made such a loud noise that I heard the thud.
Apparently no injuries.

That song reminds me of countless toga parties I attended in high school. Well, the memories of the parties are a little foggy, but I do clearly remember the song!

That’s why you watch Animal House, right, to get some of the fog cleared?

@moffittjc — and hopefully the dean didn’t tell you “fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life.”

@FourWalls The only difference between that movie and my real life college experience was that the movie was set in a different time period. lol

@FourWalls I was blown the other day too. But I did not fall down. Today, the wind is calm.

It’s a classic! I think every band that plays frat parties has to know this (thanks to Animal House).
It predates this famous version, going back to 1957. And yes, Congress really did have hearings on this song because of the lyrics not being clearly understood.

@Deepizzaguy — a lesson: there’s always been an element of lunacy in politics.

@FourWalls I did not know the song "Louie Louie" had Congressional hearings due to the lyrics.

When I was in highschool, two brothers started a band, can't remember what they called themselves, and their singer only knew the words to two songs: This one and I can't remember the other one. But what I do remember is the reason the recording was "muddy" is that the recording equipment The Kingsmen used (4 track tape machine) had only 3 tracks working. Or so I've heard.

Plus, the microphone was on a boom too tall for the lead singer, who was wearing dental braces. It was a lot of disasters that translated into a glorious classic.

Pieces of seven separate fools - April fools?
Oh, and I like Motorhead's version, although it is a bit easier to comprehend.

And the great thing about this song is, if you sing the wrong lyrics who’s gonna know?
