Holy Week Confusion

I was raised as an American-Latvian. During the week grade school as usual and on Saturdays Latvian school. It came time to prepare for Easter and then my little brain had a lot to deal with.
Here we are on Maundy Thursday but in Latvian Zala Ceturtdiena or Green Thursday. It commemorates the washing of the feet and the Last Supper with Jesus and his Apostles.
Tomorrow Good Friday in Latvian Liela Piektdiena or Big Friday. This was when Jesus was crucified.
That is what then made Easter, so joyous as the day of the resurrection of Jesus. In Latvian it is commemorated as Lieldienas or the Big Day for the joy of what occurred. I still remember mom, dad, and me going to church on Easter morning and me fidgeting and looking forward to mom’s great cooking and all my Easter treats. Of course, I looked like a little angel in my Easter outfit and my clean and white knee socks.
So for a child, it was a lot to take in. However, all the colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, and Peter Cottontail made up for it. I remember singing – here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the Bunny Trail so often I knew it as soon as the song began playing. Even as a teenager, come Easter he was my favorite bunny.
I hope you all have a very Happy and blessed Easter.
In the photo, Martin and I had gone to the Open Air Museum Easter festivities a long time ago. He is standing by an Easter tree saying Cheers! to all.
So let us sing together as we wait for Peter Cottontail

Oh, yes, that is one song I know and sing even now, even if I am singing it to tease Pretty... I may not sing it correctly, just to make her smile.
I've never heard of an Easter tree but that does look nice.

At least you celebrated the same things on the same day. I have Romanian friends and in the Romanian Orthodox Church they celebrate Christmas the same time as we (Church of England) do but Easter at a different time - at least I think it's that way around... it isn't even the same as the Greek or Russian Orthodox churches, just to be even more confusing!

@Fleura know what you mean. What I wrote about was my childhood Easter. However, in Latvia my mother-in-law was Orthodox. She insisted her son and I celebrate regular Easter and orthodox Easter and of course regular Christmas and Orthodox and after these holidays I always felt like I could use a very long vacation

How fun! I hadn't thought about Peter Cottontail for many years. We used to die easter eggs and tried new art on them each year. My grandmother always had me and the cousins over for Easter dinner and the hiding of the eggs. Such an adventure for kids.

No Easter Eggs during my childhood and I do not know that song either.
Happy Easter.
