A last-minute romp before bedtime

Now that we’re in Ireland, I am sure we are going to be seeing a lot of little groups of lambs like these four. I just love the sheep here. Although we now have more colourful sheep than we once did, there are still a lot of very ordinary-looking merinos around. By contrast, the sheep here are often a beautiful mix of black and white.
Can you see the raddle marks on the lambs? The blue colour on the shoulders? Farmers mark the lambs according to a variety of reasons. Maybe they mark all of one sex or maybe they mark the ones they want to keep for whatever reason.
These four were bouncing all over the place as it was getting on to dusk. Young animals often seem to have a last playtime just before they settle down for the night. Maybe it warms them up before the cold night air hits. My mother would often go out and dig in the garden before coming in for the evening. She said it warmed her up and she would then stay warmer than if she didn’t do that.

@JudyEv Yeah, most young animals like to play together as much as young humans do.

@Tampa_girl7 That would be nice. I find all animals fascinating to watch. Have you ever seen the cows sometimes grooming/licking each other? I find it a bit strange that they do that.

Aw sweet little story about your Mother Judy.
Yes, the lambs are so lovely to watch.
I never realized about the markings though.
I hope you and Vince especially are doing fine now.

The blue color on the lambs on their shoulders is very odd.

So what did your mom do to stay cool? Australia has cold weather? Blink...I always thought you all did not have snow. The lambs are cute indeed. Lucky for them I don't look at them as meal. Not sure Pony and DE will gaze at them with pure minds like I did.

I have no idea. I suppose it depends on what's available.
