As I said in a post, I had to address something a young man did at work that was beyond nasty. When I told my boss she wanted the manager to know so we went to his office and they said for the assistant manager to handle it. However, I told them I would and he said okay.
We were so busy when his shift started that I had stepped to a register to help my cashiers, when it slowed down I told my assistant manager I was stepping outside to smoke and I was going to speak to this young man, I asked him to come out with me.
Most of the time we have the meetings in the office but that's when everyone knows they are in trouble, I wanted this to stay private.
I asked him if he was mad at anyone or if anyone did something to him, no he said. Then I let him know that we see what is done in the store and that the cameras tape it so it can be reviewed.
When I asked why he replied he was being lazy and the cleaning products were not anywhere. I, thinking that at least he told the truth of just being lazy, told him that half of management wanted him fired, half wanted him written up.
I explained why. That what he did endangered people's lives.
Now he is holding back tears and replied that he didn't know that's how a disease was caught.
He asked what was going to happen, I told him I wasn't going to fire him or write him up but the assistant manager might write him up. He went to the assistant manager and I went back to work.
One of the best cashiers I have, that's always happy looked sick. I asked what's wrong, he said I don't want to talk about it right now. I said okay. I let 10 minutes pass and went back. He told me a customer was mean to him. I told him about the customer that yelled over and over at me a few days before, then I told him don't let one person take his joy, all the other customers come to him because they love the happiness he brings to him. His smile came back.
As for me, I closed the store in record time for me. My assistant manager was happy about that.
Have a wonderful day y'all!

This is wonderful news Angie.
I just know that God is taking care of you and is with you every step of the way.
It is about time you got some relief from hardship.
I mean I know it is still hard, but at least it is not too bad there for the job

In a way it's like being a teacher, most that I'm the boss over are young.

I use my own feelings. For male and female. Seems like some are taught that men just suck it up, but that's not true, they just have a harder time expressing themselves because some are taught men don't cry.

It's how you approach a situation, and their age.
