Her last....

Do you remember my Danie? My darling little Bichon frise? My precious?
She gave birth last January 22nd and it'll be her last litter. Danie turned 5 years old last April 8th and it wouldn't be healthy to breed her again after two years.
This time, we didn't have a midwife to help her in her labor. Like her previous ones, Danie did it pretty fast. The first puppy started coming out a few minutes past 11 in the evening and she was done before midnight with four healthy puppies.
Her contractions started around dinner time and I didn't keep my eyes away from her. She wanted to give birth in bed next to me but when I saw that she was pushing and ready, I carried her to the whelping box.
So proud of my Danie girl.

He is a favorite of mine. I call him Green. He's sweet and loves laying in the tub when I give him a bath.

@toniganzon He is so lovely, but all the babies of Danie were beautiful. I remember Yuki, she is also cute.

@LadyDuck OH yes. Yuki is my son's favorite and she's really beautiful. Much more beautiful than Danie according to my son.

I remember Danie very well. Such a beautiful dog . I also remember Yuki. Whatever happened to Yuki?
I’m glad that Danie did very well over the years in giving birth to all those litters of puppies.

@moffittjc I can't but I know some woman did deliver 10 babies. There were those who delivered 9 and 7. The wonders of reproducing!

Yuki is still as naughty as ever. She's really heavy. She had 7 puppies with her first litter two years ago.

@toniganzon Wow, a litter of 7! Poor thing, she must have been exhausted. Can you imagine what it would be like for a woman to give birth to that many babies at once?

@toniganzon very gentle ones. The ones I have do exhibit some aggression immediately after giving birth, and it takes them some time before they start to trust us to take care of their babies.

@rsa101 each breed has different temperament. Bichon frises are highly affectionate and when they were trained as puppies with a lot of attention, love and care, they are never aggressive.

Danie and Yuki are never aggressive even when they have their puppies. They would just panic when a stranger touches their puppies but they don’t bark nor bite. They’re so used to love and affection that they don’t feel threatened even by strangers. So they can easily be stolen.

She is. Danie hasn’t given us any problems at all. Not even when she was a puppy. She’s a well behaved one and has shown us nothing but love and affection.
