The hype continues to build

We went into the shop that belongs to a second cousin of Joe Biden. It is next to his ancestral home and while we were there we met the cousin who was accompanied by some cameramen. We’ve also seen cameras and interviews being conducted in various streets around the place. Later, when we were driving, we saw four big buses come by with signs saying they were Press Buses. People are still painting shop fronts and the hype continues to build. We have bought an Australian flag and plan to hang it from our balcony. A lady stopped to ask if we were tourists and she was able to direct us to the shop with the flags. Another lady helped us find cord to tie our flag up. People here are just so kind and friendly. Whatever ours, or others, opinions, we’re enjoying getting caught up in all the excitement. The photo is of a sculpture in the window next door saying ‘Hats off to you Mr President’. The other sign says ‘Sculptor by John Hogan, specialists in forged ironwork’. It’s a pity the spelling is incorrect but most people probably wouldn’t notice.

Irish must be really friendly. There was one Irish mylotter here before that I loved to interact with. She was a good mylot friend to me. But when the old mylot stopped paying, I didn't see her anymore. She never came back and I wonder how she is.

It's worrying when people just disappear in a way. It would be nice to know how old friends are doing and if they're okay.

@JudyEv They sound like the old couple next door. If they see something they think needs doing in our yard, they just take care of it and never say anything. During the pandemic, we helped them a lot and I think they're trying to "pay us back" now. It's very sweet of them, in my opinion.

That's true but they offer assistance well before it's obvious we need it which is nice.

I wish we could find someone who does ironwork locally for a front step handrail! The President probably won't see a lot of the things that are being done for him.

I'm sure there were a lot of highly decorated shopfronts, etc, that he wouldn't have seen. Hopefully, he might have seen photos of them as people went to a lot of effort to make the town look nice.

One the BBC News, this morning, they were chatting to one of Biden's distant cousins. I am sure everyone will be glad when normality returns!

Were they in a shop or a courtyard? We saw the cousin in both yesterday with a cameraman. The shop is over the lane from us and the courtyard at the back.
