"you'll never get a job if you don't..."

So the title was a line that was dropped on me by a manager I did trial shifts under. The full line was "you'll never get a job if you arent willing to work without breaks." well here is the funny part I got a job. Ive just been pretty quiet about it. I start on the 8th of May which is 4 days after my graduation from my Bachelor of Science with a double major the first in genetics and the second in immunology and virology. More on this later. So what will my job be? Well the role was explained to me as being mybudget but for people on a disability payment. So I will be working with disabled people to get their finances in order. I acknowledge I got this job on my own merit. However I literally couldnt have got the job on my own. My friend Cryo whom I have known for 16 years referred me to this job as the company werent advertising externally. What else? Well I am glad I did work for the dole as tedious as it was getting there. Not only was I surprised that I quite enjoyed doing warehouse work I enjoyed the physicality of the role. Plus working hard got me a fantastic reference from my supervisor. Meanwhile the others were b*tching, moaning and loafing but not taking it seriously or treating it as a stepping stone... Even the ones that WANT a job.

And eventually you will be able to put to good use your education in a job more suitable..that is the ticket Fae. Sometimes it is not what you know, but who you know as well.

Oh yeah huge part is who you know. Think I may need to go and annoy my former lab demonstrators and professors... In a professional manner of course so I am on their mind when a job comes up.

It is actually illegal here to require you to work without breaks. Jobs are out there and congrats on getting one.

Exactly! Not my fault they dont know Australia's policy on this which is something they should know when running a business here. Standing up for my workers rights doesnt make me inferior just cause they prefer to hire people who dont know about their rights. They didnt even say to circle claim tax free threshold when some of the people working there certainly werent making enough to be taxed! Now Im gonna get 1700 a fortnight so ha.
