There are more than 25 types of apples. I am not so fond of apples but if at all I decide to eat one then I would go for the soft type. I think it is called Golden Delicious.
These are the names of some of the apples that the Net help me find "Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, McIntosh, Rome Beauty, Fuji, Jonathan, York, Gala, Idared, and Yellow Newton"
Most I know believe in the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away but that saying could soon be replaced by the avocado, from reports.
What type of apples do you like to eat?

But going by reports many have replaced apples with avocado (lol) My friend eats them and she is slim and shapely (lol)

@LadyDuck I have yet to acquire a taste for avocado. And about putting on weight there are ways to handle that - exercise. Just because something helps one put on weight one cannot ignore the plus points of that item.

@allknowing - Avocado surely has not replaces apples in Europe. Still many Europeans dislike the taste of avocados. Being slim depends on how many calories per day you take, 240 is a lot, but if you eat an avocado instead of a plate of rice or pasta, it's more or less the same number of calories less the carbs.
The Pink lady is a very firm crunchy apple sweet, but not too sweet.

I find Golden Delicious too 'floury' when bought in the shops but if picked off the tree and eaten then they really live up to their name and are delicious. I picked apples one summer and ate a lot of Golden Delicious straight off the tree.

The red delicious I find them tasting good . Yea avocados are taking the lead slowly with many farmers here going for the avocado farming

Wow, I didn't know that there are so many types of apple. I sometime eat Washington apple, sometimes Fuji apple.
