Springtime is in full gear again. The time for rebirth, a season anew, flowers blooming, birds chirping and sunshine flowing. Yes, I'm feeling that Spring fever and its enough to make me "(I) "Wanna Rock." So, let me put together a series of my favorite "ROCK" titled songs to keep that spring in my step. Here is the first (Classic) Rock playlist. Let me know if they "Rock n' Roll" for you. Comments, musings, your own favorite rock titled songs and trivia always welcome... 1. "I Wanna Rock"- Twisted Sister -I have never followed or bought any Twisted Sister albums, but this tune is frequently played on the radio, and I love that catchy refrain (I Wanna Rock). This song was a rebellion anthem for kids who were told to conform by parents and teachers. I must be a "Big Kid" at heart. lol 2. "I Love Rock and Roll"- Joan Jett -Jett discovered this tune by "The Arrows" in the 70's when she was touring in England with her all-girls band "The Runaways." She wisely resurrected this song off the scrap heap after parting ways with the band. Her version with "The Blackhearts" in 1981 produced what is arguably one of the most successful covers in rock history. -Do you have a favorite Joan Jett song? TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. This was the "first rock song" to top the charts. It happened in the "year 1955," just one year before Elvis hit it big with Heartbreak Hotel. This band was led by a singer named "Bill," and the rest of the group's name came from a reference to a "heavenly body which burns off and forms a tail" when it approachs the sun. "Put them together" for the band's name. The song uses a "time reference" in the title. This group also had another hit with "Shake, Rattle and Roll." -Do you know the name of this 50's band and their Rock titled song? 2. This song became the band's "signature hit." The group's name is the same as giving your lover a "smooch on the lips," which I'm sure the bassist with the "long tongue" did on many occasions. This band liked to play "dress-up in costumes and makeup" when they performed live. Each member represented a "certain character." This song was written as a "rallying cry for their fans." They wanted them to "rock into the wee hours of the evening." Or....all ____! -Do you know the name of this band with the makeup and costumes and their rock song? So, let's "rock on" and answer these trivia questions. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as Billy Swan would say, "I Can Help." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition next Saturday. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... 1. One, two, three o’clock, four o’clock rock! Here’s some trivia for you: Kris Kristofferson said that his favorite version of “Me and Bobbie McGee” was by….Bill Haley. That’ll make your head spin like a comet, won’t it! 2. At my age I want to sleep instead of rock and rolling in bed all night, and take my Geritol every day. More fun trivia: Gene Simmons picked that name for his stage name after Jumpin’ Gene Simmons, who had the hit “Haunted House.” PS: is that a Twisted Sister pin on your lapel?????
