Taking the weight off their feet for a moment

Today we went to Dublin for the day with our son. He had a meeting to attend and we filled in the time with some sight-seeing and an enjoyable lunch. We found the day really cold but at least it didn’t rain on us. We were all rugged up too so all was good. The photo shows a statue which was in a side street. There didn’t seem to be any information about it. I guess it’s just two friends having a chat before continuing their shopping. The drink bottle and cup are not part of the display! lol

That is an interesting display, I am sure many take photos with them, I found an interesting sculpture like this many years ago in Portland Oregon. It was a guy sitting on a bench, relaxing and I just had to take a photo.

That's looks a nice sculpture too. I have one somewhere of two poets. It might be Oscar Wilde and Yeats. I must see if I can find it.

The drink bottle and cup are part of the rudeness of our days. The statue is nice.

I get the impression it's a mother and daughter, the statue on the left looks older.

The way the one on the right was sculpted makes her look like a teenager.

@rebelann Now you mention it, she does a bit. The clothes aren't very teenagerish but then, it was created in 1988.

Could me but to me I think they're just friends. There doesn't seem enough age difference for mother and daughter.

@JudyEv That makes finding them more fun when you stop Googling and get out in the world to explore.

Sounds like an interesting day. Are the statues made of stone or metal?

They are metal. There are a lot - many about the time of the Great Famine.

@JudyEv Oh yeah, now that you mention it, I can see a hand holding a cell phone growing out of the left woman's shoulder. She's probably responsible for the drinks.

That's a nice statue, it almost begs you to find a bench and take a break also. When you refer to the weather as cold, can I ask roughly what the temperatures are there these days?

@JudyEv That is similar to the weather that we are having currently.

Daytime weather is around 13C to 17C and nights about 8C to 10C. We have a much greater daily range at home.

They spoil the look but they belonged to someone behind the statue so I didn't feel inclined to move them.

As so often happens, your post intrigued me and I had to look it up. Apparently it's called 'Meeting place' and it's part of a project called 'talking statues' you can get a call from them and hear 'their' voices!
