Staying away from gadgets...

Good afternoon from this side of the planet.
It's past 12 here and I would eat my lunch and leave the house in an hour.
It's bright and sunny outside but not too hot. Last two evenings with some shower has brought relief to the rising mercury lately
.
I have to take my younger daughter for her educational and psychological assessment today. We have not got one done in the last few years. It has been delayed due to the pandemic.
I will see if the waiting is there, I might come here again.
I have been mostly away from the gadgets in the last two days. And these two days have been pretty productive ones. I could arrange few documents and categorised them in different files, arranged my art and craft cupboard ( to find two unfinished projects that were totally out of mind), prepared some home made snacks and also started with the next batch of mango pickles. My friend could bring the raw mangoes from her farmhouse only on Monday. So, I started it yesterday. You can see that in picture..i have cut them all and dried them.. today I added the spices and oil to it. Now, it needs sun drying for few days.
So, a lot was done in the last two days
. My mother said a very valid thing to me when I last visited her in December. She said " More than half the world population would go to grave without achieving even half of their potential. And gadgets and the addiction or dependency to them has to be blamed". I totally agree with her. What's your thought about it?
But if you stay away from gadgets, you cannot attain your goals in online earnings

Hope all going well in your myLot corner
Stay happy and healthy

Very true. I often feel that I am not able to do as per my potential due to various reasons...lazyness, lack of motivation, procrastination etc. And ofcourse sticking to screen time for long is a factor.

That's so nice. I feel that we had blessed years while growing up. My hear pains when I see kids and youth so attached to their gadgets. It has taken away so many joys of life, especially the childhood.

It's the same here..I have only few much needed gadgets. I don't buy anything and everything that comes to the market. A laptop and smartphone is good enough for me. Also, my kitchen has only the few needed ones.

You are right. We can't totally stay away from gadgets. We need to judiciously use it.
I agree with @TheSojourner that doing things the old way is therapeutic. I have only a few mucg needed gadgets in my kitchen and I still prefer to cook the old fashioned way.

@LadyDuck I have microwave. We never use it in microwave mode. It's convertible and we mostly use it as traditional oven mode. I am not going to buy an air fryer either. Anyways, we are not much into deep fried stuffs. We occasionally have them and having them in old traditional way is fine with me.

I can relate to it. I don't want to become their slaves but I do need them for my job and other stuff. It's become a necessity these days. But as long as we can control it and strike a balance, we are good to go.

@arunima25 That's right. Gadgets sometimes become a necessity at old age. I can't do without my smartphone now as I use it to for many things like shopping and banking and a lot more.

@aninditasen I totally agree there. It's not only with old age, it's with all age groups. I rely a lot on digital ways..I guess that's the case with everyone.

You are right. As long as we maintain a balance and that becomes challenging at times. As long as gadgets are in our control, we are good. Once they start controlling us, there must be something wrong.

I strongly believe in the saying ``All that is too much is not good``. Therefore, we just need to learn how to balance. Enjoy life

That's a good practice. We all need to take some break from our gadgets from time to time. There is a lot more to do in offline world.

I make sure that I don't overdo online work.. Offline life should get the priority all the times.

That's good. You are into judicious use of gadgets. Many people these days are addicted to them.. As long as we control gadgets it is okay. The problems begin once gadgets start controlling us.

I see too many young people attached to their phones and Game Boys. It's a shame. Hope you are having a good weekend and will have a good week to come.

. I agree with you, young generation is totally glued to the gadgets and missing so much in life. I feel sad for them.

Well, sad to say but that's true. People nowadays are so overly dependent on their gadgets for almost everything, everyday life activities, even the most basic that they hardly use their brain to think anymore. If you ask someone, "how many hours are there in a month?" In my time, I would think like "there's 24 hrs in a day, how many days are in a month blah blah", compute it manually or use a calculator. But now, ask this especially a young one or even the older ones, they'd take the easy way out. Say, "Siri or Alexa, how many hours are there in a month?" Then the answer is right there, in front of you, you do not even have to type your question, you just have to speak. Did you use your brain to think? No, no effort.

It's unfortunate. Isn't it? And with AI and ChatGpt kind of advancements, it's going to get worse. It's okay as long as we control our gadgets. But unfortunately, now a days, it's other way around. Our lives are being controlled by the gadgets
