Totally shocking and warm today. No rain and no clouds. I talked hubby into going for a drive. He wore his coat and sweater but soon shed his coat. He gets cold so easily now. On the way to the state park I stopped and bought us some snacky picnic food. Mandarin orange cups, cheesy bread rolls, white sharp cheddar slices. Even found a pack of peanut butter sandwich cookies- like Oreos but peanut butter. Hubby wanted to be sure to have something to share with Rufus. The photo shows where we went on a little walk. We found a resident that Rufus wanted to play with. A Garter snake. I told Rufus that Mr. Snake was not in the playing mood. I am not afraid of snakes. They have their place on our planet. Garter snakes are harmless to humans. Back home, hubby went up for a nap but got up later and worked on moving the cement blocks in by the outdoor swing. He is trying to do a little something every day instead of just sitting in a chair and feeling cold and sleepy.

I hope you all enjoyed the outing. Even Mr Snake. I don't care for snakes, even if they are harmless. They're still snakes.

@jstory07 No, they really aren't slimy but I'd prefer not to handle them anyway.

@Laurakemunto I won't go around picking them up... although I have carried around a python in a zoo exhibit before.

That’s good he tries to do something every day. Sounds like mostly pretty healthy snacks you found.

That sounds an enjoyable outing. I'm glad you didn't let Rufus play with the snake. I guess he could still have got bitten.

@JudyEv Garter snakes do not have venom. They are harmless to humans and dogs.

We have mostly sunshine today, with lots of wind and a few clouds. Love this photo. What a peaceful place to walk. Rufus looks very happy. Baby steps for hubby.

My dad hates snakes, but his wife, Diana, has gotten him to get over the harmless ones like garter snakes. She's very into nature.

What a cute picture of Rufus pup. I'm glad that Mr. Snake was unharmed. Non-venemous snakes are good for the environment. I'm glad hubby is making an effort to do a couple of things. That way his muscles won't atrophy.
