Sad news from my friend John.

John is my 82-year-old harmonica playing buddy. We get together about twice a month to make music, drink beer, and watch sports on the TV in his man cave (his garage).
I called him yesterday afternoon so see whether we were on for last night. He told me that he was off to the hospital to see his daughter, probably for the last time.
She has cancer that has spread throughout her body. She told John, her father, that she doesn't think she's going to make it through the weekend.
They have her doped up on morphine, or whatever version of heroin they give in the hospital.
Please send your thoughts and prayers to John's daughter. I don't know her, but if he's 82, she can't be more than 60 or so.

All the positive thoughts I can muster are headed that way. These times are so sad. I want to pass in my sleep. Easier on everyone.

Cancer is such a cruel thing. I'm sorry for your friend, none of us ever wants to bury our children.

Nothing hurts as bad as that does. Poor fellow. I know you will be there for him if and when he needs you to be, that will be hard of course, but it will mean a lot to him.

I wish the best for them, and I hope she recovers if she can. If not, then I wish the best in the time of healing to come.

@TheHorse Me, too. Cancer is one of those mysterious things you can never really know about. I'm sure John will keep you updated.

@kaylachan I guess I'll just be selfishly thankful for my health today.

Oh, bless their hearts. I am so sorry. I will pray for them. I can’t imagine how hard it is to see your child die. The last 3 days of my mom’s life all we could do was drip morphine in her mouth. She was 55, but she was my mom. Your friend losing his daughter has got to be so much worse.
