Hungry or bored?

Do you ever want to eat something when you realize you're really not hungry?
Maybe you're just bored.
Or maybe you just bought a new treat when you bought groceries today and really, really want to try it.
I seldom get bored. There's always plenty of housework that needs to be done. But once in a while I find myself slightly bored like today and think I really am hungry, but I'm actually not.
Do you ever have this happen to you? Do you tell yourself, "Self, I know good and well there's no way in this world you can be hungry."
Or do you just remind your self you only live once on this earth and if you want a snack, bored or not, just go for it.

@1creekgirl when I read your first line I immediately thought how wonderful! Gosh I hope it doesn’t happen again after the next round of chemo

I've eaten way too much today. But it's so wonderful to be able to taste food again. But I guess that will change again after chemo on Monday.

@shaggin It would be wonderful if it didn't happen, but at least I only have one more after Monday. Not sure how many weeks then until I start 30 radiation treatments.

@1creekgirl I try always to eat in moderation, but I do not renounce anymore to what I enjoy.

I try to consider whether or not I am really hungry when I want to eat something. Sometimes it is just force of habit or boredom emptiness whatever.

@1creekgirl I would eat whenever you want to, if I were you. You may soon not be able to. Besides you are in a weight deficit already.

I find myself snacking when I'm really not hungry. But with this chemo, it's so nice to actually feel hungry. I start another treatment tomorrow.

@snowy22315 I gained a couple of pounds this weekend, but I'll probably lose it again if the poison, I mean chemo, affects me the same.

Thanks, while we were clearing out photos, I came across some I haven't seen in a while. My daddy loved to take and print photos of me, the first born.

@1creekgirl I am boring when it comes to snack food.
I work from home, and during a zoom meeting one day a couple of years ago, we had a scavenger hunt.
Our manager would name an item and you could run to someplace and get it and bring it to the meeting and the first person back got points for a prize. I remember she said snack food and I returned with a couple of apples in my hand, and she didn't count it as snack food. I didn't have any chips or anything.

@Juliaacv Well, you may have lost the snack game, but I bet you're healthier than the rest of them.

I had that problem yesterday. I even went to the fridge and looked inside, closed it, opened the pantry, closed it, and went back to my movie. I wanted something but didn't need it, so didn't. This time I won. Next time, I might not be so lucky. I just might get that irresistible snack and pay for it on the scale.

When I go for something to eat, and then it’s really not out of hunger, I tend to change my intentions to something to drink instead. That is assuming the beverage I’m getting is not full of sugar, of course. If I am I might as well have gone for the snack. Coca-Cola just always seems to tempt me!

I have a bad habit of eating when I'm bored or tense about something. I try to quench the feeling by drinking water. It doesn't always help. What does help is taking the dogs outside to play. Losing myself in writing a new story also does the trick.

I keep pushing myself to do things on my PC so boredom is not longer in my dictionary. But you mentioned about food I have something funny going on. I make easy and simple meals to just feed myself and even eat by my PC, Lately I make the food then have some forkfuls and it no longer interests me. I cannot afford to throw food out so now I am wondering what I have to do to eat with my usual appetite again,

I am a firm believer in the last paragraph of your discussion! Lol
I try to eat healthy as much as I can, but dammit sometimes I just want to fulfill a craving and by golly I’m going to do it! Haha

I do occasionally eat out of boredom. Not as much as I used to. I don't know if that's because I don't get bored so much or if it's that I have better control over it, and actually realise that I'm not hungry rather than picking up a snack without thinking.
When I get bored and want to go for a snack, I'll get myself a drink and I might pick up a puzzle book or something to do. I've always got plenty of things I should be doing, just don't want to do anything of them!
If I find myself something to do and still feel like a snack, I'll get a piece of fruit. There are times when I see a new product and want to try it - that doesn't happen often, though, so I'll just indulge at those times!

My mother is like that. She keeps saying to treat food as fuel for your body, but she doesn't. I need to do it too.

I was looking at Facebook memories a couple of days ago and one popped up that said something like "what my fridge sees these days". It was from the early days of the COVID lockdown. It was Eminem looking into the fridge and a reference to his song that says "guess who's back? back again?"
