How adventurous are you when it comes to food?

During my university days, I was so adventurous when it came to eating foods from different places in my country. But then, I cannot push myself to eat strange foods, such as frog's meat, 'adobong kamaru (cameroon),' 'tamilok' (woodworms), etc. Don't get me wrong, but I tried some of them. These are strange or exotic foods that I can eat. Image Credit: getaway.ph

I grew up eating the meat of a lot of different wild animals my brothers shot and brought to the kitchen for mom to cook. But there are some things I cannot/will not eat. I'm willing to try foods from other societies as long as there's nothing I'm allergic to and there's nothing that will make me sick if told what it is. (Everybody knows I can't eat rice, okra and a few other things... )

I love eating rice, lady's fingers, etc. I am sure wild animals taste tasty like the wild boar. This is the only wild animal that I had eaten before.

@allknowing I am glad that it is not that high. Is it because of fasting?

I am also a chocoholic but tried to lessen it. I do not want to be inflicted with diabetes mellitus.

I like cooking and it is one of my hobbies. I especially like challenging new recipes which sometimes my husband feel afraid of it. As no matter the new recipe is successful or not, he has to eat it anyway

I am sure you did some experiments in the kitchen. Have you tried some of the exotic foods there in China?

@Shavkat My husband likes turtle soup. I ate snails in France and legs frogs. I cannot stand snakes, I skipped trying fried snakes in Arizona, but I had crocodile nuggets in Florida.

I will not eat bugs, so probably not very adventurous. I did have frog legs and rattlesnake tail growing up.

It is surprising that you had tried frogs' legs and rattlesnake's tail. Some locals love eating frogs' legs in the coutryside and even the snakes.

@CarolDM I got it. I grew up in one of the cities in my country. It is not likely for us to eat frogs' legs.

I can only have a few but not all. When I was still in China, I cannot even try their stinky tofu.

What no "eye of newt?" No, I'm not too adventurous. I'll leave the 'tamilok' to the birds. I like to know how something is going to taste.

I was also surprised with the 'tamilok' that can be eaten by some locals here. I won't dare though.

Well, I can mostly tolerate all kinds of food, especially the exotic ones. Since I barely travel nowadays, I do not encounter them anymore. But if given the chance I would love to try them all.
