Bob Uecker likes to joke that his lifetime batting average was .212 during his baseball career. (Well, it’s really no joke…) Our weathermen aren’t doing that well. They told us severe weather, then it didn’t happen, so they canceled the “alert day”…then we get golf ball sized hail at 3:30 in the morning!
(Disclaimer: parts of Louisville had big hail, I personally did NOT.) Makes ‘em want to sing the blues, so let’s go back to 1973 for a rockin’ blues tune!
La Grange - ZZ Top
Haw haw haw haw!
I’ve mentioned it before, but here’s the song so I’ll mention it again. This is about the town where the “Chicken Ranch,” the brothel that was the subject of the play and movie The Best Little Wh*rehouse in Texas, was located. And of course that “Little Ole Band From Texas” would pay homage to such a legendary place!
Darn near every state has a La Grange (there’s a LaGrange about 20 miles outside of Louisville)), but only Texas has the La Grange!!!!
La Grange
Written by Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard
Recorded by ZZ Top
From Tres Hombres, 1973
Just let me know:

That tune is as good as a "Sharp Dressed Man." And you want to look your best when gaining your manhood.

And don’t forget the “cheap sunglasses” in case you’re spotted!!!

Those were the great days, before online lyric sites, where you could sing anything you wanted to a song.

@FourWalls Sort of like abstract art. The song could be about anything the listener needed it to be.

Maybe I know the music, but not the title. I’ll give it a listen.

It’s a very popular song of theirs from the 70s. Hope you like it.

First time hearing this and learning about it. Tres Hombres are certainly nothing like the Three Tenors

Bet the three tenors couldn’t grow beards like Dusty had and Billy has.
(And yes, the guy named Beard doesn’t have one!

A lot of it is impersonating an old blues singer.

I’ve definitely heard it.
Reminds me of Muddy Waters songs.
