Do you let your family members know your salary?

Hallo my people! I hope all is well with you. The day seems very beautiful here. The sun is already up and shinning. The warm temperatures and the sun makes today so beautiful for all kinds of activities. So I was figuring out on my monthly earnings. When I add up all my income streams including both online and offline I come up with a figure which is very minimal and insufficient for the needs of my family and I. So I was wondering should I tell my family members the exactly amount of money I earn or should that remain as my personal secret. Do you really tell your people what you are getting monthly or you just keep that as your personal secret? I wish you a great weekend as you my lot.

The only person who knew how much I made when I worked was my husband.

If your family questions why you cannot afford necessities then I would share with them. You obviously work hard, and you wouldn't want them to think otherwise. However, if they haven't given any indication that they have noticed anything is amiss, then I wouldn't say anything. If you need financial assistance though, it certainly wouldn't be out of line to mention it.

I have really liked your thinking perspective about this subject. I think it would be a very great idea to let them know how much you are earning so that they cannot blame you when you can't provide for some needs.

I usually tell my son and DIL so they will know. My DIL is in charge of managing our budget, So, she needs to be informed.

Only our household knows . . . everyone else who do not live here, even if they are technically family, do not need to know.

Anyone who manages the finances should know what you earn. My parents always knew because I paid rent to them.

Yes I tell about my monthly salary to my wife. My offline earnings are fixed but every year we have an increament in the salary which I tell to my wife. I have never told about how I earn from online sites as it's very minimal amount and I don't think it's essential to tell this to my wife.

When I worked all my family knew how much my salary is. Mom knew my Dad salary, this is not something that concerned my brother and I.

That's very understandable. It's seems not good when other family members that are not close to know that.

I told my mom, dad, and my boyfriend about my monthly income as a worker, but not about the bonus money and side job I have.

So they only knew about your salary only but not the other earnings that your have monthly. Why did you consider not to let them know all your earnings?

I used to reveal to my family what I earn from my office job. However, I never revealed what I used to earn online as those were used to clear my debts or use to fund my lifestyle. It can be considered as a personal secret although I am not earning substantially from online sources. It used to be a stop gap payment. Well, you do need to mention to your immediate family what you earn as the main income. This helps the family to adjust the expenses and adjust according to the income. Menawhile, you can use the other amounts to be used as debt clearing/ emergency fund.
