In Alleppey in Kerala there is fun staying in house boats. There are backwaters. Travellers travel with the house boats for the number of days they stay. They have bath within the house boat and also meals over there. There is fun watching the skies in the morning and evening.

We have hired a house-boat once or twice. It's always fun on a house-boat.

I've never been on a houseboat but have stayed on a pontoon boat for several days. I enjoyed that. This picture is from an older vacation... That's your elder son in the photo with your mom and wife. He was a cute little boy.

@sathviksouvik If you feel like teasing your elder son, tell him I wondered what happened to him... He was a cute little boy but now... Please only do that if you believe he'll understand that I'm teasing him.

Is it same like we call "Shikara" in Kashmir or are they bit different? I have stayed in house boat in Kashmir in childhood but have faint memories of it since then I never visited Kashmir and you know the reason for it

@thebos Reason of what?

thanks Sanjeevji it has similarity with Kashmir. Only change is Kashmir is a cold destination. Where as Alleppey is a tropical destination. Also the dal lake water travel in the same direction of rivers. Whereas in Alleppey there is backwater.

Don't think I would enjoy staying in a house boat. I have sea sickness.

I've never been on a houseboat, but I've been on a boat when I crossed the island 2 times. It's only been a few hours, but it feels like a long time to me. Yes, actually I'm afraid to be above the ocean.
