At 29?

This picture was taken of me on my 29th birthday. My grandfather had died two days prior, and it was a pretty sad time, but my mom wanted a picture of me on my 29th birthday. I remember my Nana telling me she was so relieved my Papaw (what I called my grandfather) had not died on my birthday. My Papaw had been in the hospital, and he had been in great spirits despite being close to the end. He went before his dementia got bad, so that was good. He didn't live long enough to see how bad my own mom's (his daughter) dementia got (their types of dementia were oddly not the same type), and that's a good thing. He was my mom's biggest fan.
Enough of the sad stuff! Everyone makes a joke about 29 being the beginning of getting old, especially when you're single (at least here they do). What were you doing at the age of 29? For those of you not yet 29, where do you see yourself then?

@AmbiePam That's so funny! lol When my father was discharged out of the Army, the date was1942. Somebody made a mistake on his paperwork and typed in 1492!

You are lovely in the photo and I'm sure you still are.
I was married to my first wife and we'd had our daughter five years earlier. I was working a full-time job and a part-time job, taking my daughter to work with me... Mostly, she and I played cards or board games in between customers.

@DaddyEvil I've never been married, but I've been told there are worse things than being single! Lol I know your daughter was definitely worth the marriage she came from although I'm sorry for you that you didn't get a happy "forever".

@AmbiePam You're very welcome.
Two divorces later and I still have my daughter.
I'm not getting married again...
I've learned my lesson on marriage. I prefer being single.

I have a niece who looks a lot like you. I wonder if that is a good or bad thing.

Eh, 29 is not the joke of getting old. The world makes you old one way or another. try being 46 in a world that hates you. Work out what differences you have now, as get really old, it gets harder and there is no getting it back.
That being said you look very lovely and just do not lose who you are on a corrupt what I call bankrupt society that lets its own kids get killed by mass shootings everyday.

@AmbiePam Indeed, I am pretty positive contrary to popular belief. Its just anytime I am positive the so called positive people slap me down. My brother and sister are a perfect example, dude I am not letting poor be a problem for me. I am going to live how I always lived or would like to live.
They have such a problem with that. You should be working nonstop, no, its freaking rigged for one and two you are gonna die of stress. I do take some of their more rationale thoughts into consideration though.

My son is 29. He turns 30 next month. I don’t remember 29 very vividly.

That's a sad, but pretty picture of you, Amber. From a recent photo, I would say you're even prettier now.
At 29, I was married with two children, ten and five. I sure started early, didn't I!
I know you miss your grandparents.

Thank you, Vicki. And yes, I definitely miss them. I was so blessed to get such good ones. My Papaw was a pastor too, and when I was a child, and I visited, I'd get my Bible, march up to the front row, and wait to hear what my Papaw had to say!
I think you started right on time!

@AmbiePam You are so blessed to have Christian parents and grandparents.
We really were too young to get married, but our kids were blessings. It took God and us a long time to get it right, but we're so thankful for each other (57 years!)

Sorry to hear that he passed away so close to your birthday, that would be rough. That would be rough to go through dementia too, so if they don't have to suffer that is a good thing, even though it is hard on us to lose them.
Very nice photo of you on your 29th birthday!
I don't remember what I was doing at the age of 29, I was a mother...but don't remember much else lol

@AmbiePam No harder than it was before I was pregnant. It was surprisingly laid back there, as those places go

So pretty
! Let's see . . . I was a graphic artist at a print company, had been there for 7 years already. Boyfriend and I were together 11 years. I was training regularly for figure skating, and on my work lunchtime I was taking dance classes at a local community college.
I had a friend who said after 29, he just had anniversaries of his 29th birthday
(he wouldn't have it to say he was in his 80s
).

@AmbiePam I was alone at 25 yrs old when my son was born. From then on, I had people around, but no one special. I was on my own with my son and no help from family babysitting.

Great photo. It looks to be in the 80s. At 29 I had been married for 7 years and living on Lake Erie.

No, the picture was in 2010.
You’re the second to guess that though. I was born with naturally curly hair although I know perms were popular in the 80s. My jacket WAS about 15 years old, and I remember distinctly buying the shirt because it was not the style of anything current I had seen. But I was born in 1981.
Lake Erie always seemed so pretty. I would love to see it in person.

@AmbiePam Lol. I mean I know at least a handful of guys that would lucky to have you.
There's also a couple that you could beat up, if you wanted to get some pent up agression out.
