Down to Single Digits ...

... at least when it comes to days in class with my students. After today, there are only 9 student days left in this school year. Counting weekends and holidays, it's a total of 14 days. I've started slowly taking down and boxing up the few things I want to take with me when I go. It won't be much. Just a few mementos from my students collected over the years. How is it supposed to feel at the end of a career? I'm still trying to figure that out.

I feel like I should still be working and helping people... I hope you have lots of plans for your retirement.

I have plans for my retirement, and most include writing if I have time after doing all the housework, shopping, cooking, and dog sitting.

@DaddyEvil I have my subtle ways of letting her know where I stand on the issue, and she has, in her way, acknowledged that she came on a little too dictatorishly when issuing her command.

@DWDavis You really need to talk with your wife about those "extra" chores she's trying to load on you.

I think I will feel better once I hand in my keys and walk away knowing I don't have to return in the fall.

I hope you know what a good job you have done. No one teaches that long without being a dedicated, and hardworking educator. Congratulations on a career that has no doubt made a huge impact.

My hubby had trouble ending his career. If you have been a teacher all your life, I suspect you'll find ways to continue- helping others in one way or another. My hubby still acts like a social worker sometimes. I am a born caregiver, animals and people. Plus writing is just me.

I'm already thinking about ways I can volunteer around the school next year.

I'm sure it will be a very strange feeling when you walk out that door for the last time.

I am sure there will be lots of mixed emotions when the door closes behind me.

I've done it twice and enjoyed them both. Nice to be doing my own things now

Wow! Well.. kind of a mixture I suppose. The end of one long chapter - but also the start of something new.
