We were counting rabbits part of the way.

It was not dawn yet when we started our trip back to Santiago.
My friends´ house in the mountains is in the middle of the mountains and all sorts of wild animals roam nearby. Years ago, when we didn´t know better, we had a barbecue and did not bring inside the house the rests of it.
The next day, much to our shock, we saw a mountain lion paws and the garbage bags were completly destroyed.
Now we clean everything. But we can see other wild life. And today we discovered that rabbits got out at night. We never see any rabbit during the day. But I counted 8 rabbits crossing the path before sun up before we reached what I call "civilization".
I know many of you have wildlife near your homes. Coral (@thesojourner) often says that deer eat her potted plants
Do you have wild life hear your home? What is it? How do you relate with them?

No, we don't have wildlife near our home because our area is the city center. In fact, even pets are prohibited in apartment buildings, however, we don't allow our pets outside, so we were able to have some cats.
The roaming lion sharing your food is scary. It's good you went home safe.

People have built houses where only wildlife should live.

@marguicha Yeah, and they are left to fend for their own.

It seems to me that you have more wildlife in your country than what I have in mine.

@marguicha Really? I live in a suburb, but there are sections with a lot of trees where some wildlife can hide. Where my dad lives however, their terrain is hard to describe so I guess it isn't unexpected to see more wildlife there. I remember a coyote passed by me once when I still lived with him, and I only knew to turn to look because my dog's eyes got huge.

@AmbiePam In the middle of the cities is not usual. But if people live near the country there are all sorts of animals.

We often have bunnies playing in our back yard either during the evening or early in the morning. Squirrels play in the yard and in the trees all day long. Sometimes the squirrels will sit in the tree outside our kitchen window and watch me washing dishes or cooking. I always call for Pretty to come see whatever animals are in the yard.

I confess that, even though rabbits are cute, I always imagine them in a pot.

@marguicha We can't do that... Wild rabbits in my part of the US have a lung disease that makes them inedible for humans. So we just enjoy seeing them playing in our yard.

We have many cute hedgehogs that come out at night. I have seen a fox several time, also some martens, small animals very close to ferrets. The big ones and dangerous are the wild boars, the bears do not come down from the mountains and also the wolves stay up in the mountains.

We see rabbits in the evenings sometimes. I need to start putting my memory cards in the cameras again

I have seen a bunny a few days ago. It was so cute. My great-aunt saw a wild turkey in my yard. I didn't get to see it. She also has seen horses and deer in her yard before.

That would be scary to know there was a mountain lion in the vicinity. We don't have any wildlife here but we had a lot of kangaroos at our old place.

We have deer. Hubs leaves apples and other goodies for them. We have turkeys; and once I saw a fox. We used to hear coyotes at our old place but not here.

I see rabbits often in the yard, just like this one in the photo. I hear coyotes in the distance and mostly see birds and a few possums at night on the security cameras. Many new homes have scared away much of the wildlife unfortunately. Would love to be in the mountains.
