Competitive

When I was a student, I was competitive. I want to have the highest score in class, I want to achieve the 1st rank, and so on. Neither my parents ask me to do so, nor I want to be better than others. I love studying, reading, and solving the problems, so I do all of things happily, without any presure. Now, when I'm not a student anymore, I compete with myself. I compete against the laziness and mood swings, lol. How about you? Are you a competitive person?

You're absolutely right! It seems that competition is ingrained in human nature. As you mentioned, during our school years, the focus was on achieving high grades and outperforming our peers. However, as we grow and face new challenges, the nature of competition evolves as well. Personally, my whole life has been a competition, competing to find a better job, to look good among my friends, to compete for the best woman (no success there so far).

I hope you get what you want in life, and can enjoy what things you have at the present as well.

No, I'm not at all. I got the best grades in my class, and everyone's goal was to beat me academically, but I wanted no part of it. I would have been perfectly happy if no knew I received the highest grades. My sister on the other hand, was very competitive. She was also the smartest one in her grade, and she wanted to crush her competitors. I didn't even like to play against her in board games because nothing was fun to her. She saw it as pure business, and she wanted to annihilate you.

One thing I don't like about being competitive in a competitive environment is that others look at me as their enemy. I mean, we are implisitly in a competition, but we are not in a war tho.

That's great. But sometimes, being a competitive is not only against the others, but also ourselves, which is (hopefully) gonna lead us to a better version of us.

I’m studious and I enjoy academics. I’m grade conscious too but I don’t compete with anyone

No, I was not. I did my best but never tried to be "the best in class", even if several times I ended up being the best.

I've ever heard that when someone gets older, all they want in life is peace of mind. Is that what you feel?

Yes I am just like you. When I was still a student, I always competed with them, but I'm not afraid of being beaten, because I also want to teach my friends what they don't understand. Even though he wouldn't teach me when I asked. LOL

LOL that's also happened when I was a student until Senior High School. But when I was a college student, there's no one who has that kind of character.

@happylearner Yes, that's. During middle school and high school, smart kids tend to be stingy when it comes to sharing, they're afraid of being beaten. LOL
