Kindergarten the preschool educational approach first started in Germany and today it has become worldwide. It is a transition from home to school where there is much of playing, singing, drawing and social interaction.
One of my sisters started her school and gave it the name Babyland. It is running since many years and now she also has classes from I to V standard.
During our time we never had this and we were admitted to the first standard straight form home. We no doubt got a bit of grounding at home using a slate and pencil
Do you remember your kindergarten days?

I remember my first day at school but we did not have Kindergarten those days I came home and told my father to give me a new name. I came to know of so many names there (lol) My father told me then that I was named after his mother and that pacified me.

@allknowing My best memory from kindergarten was that the teacher was happy I could already read but kept turning my book around. I learned to read standing at mom's knee reading the book she was reading but upside down. The teacher called mom to come in and explain why I kept turning the books upside down to read them.

@allknowing I went to a catholic school during 8 years, but when I went to college I asked to my father to go to a place without nuns.

@LadyDuck (lol) Were you not happy with the nuns? One thing I know they were partial. They were always after the rich students. Even if they could not act they could get plump roles

@RebeccasFarm That is a great memory to have. I remember I could not untie my panty string - those days elastic was not used and I went to the nun and she helped me (lol)

@allknowing I can remember her name and see her standing there and exactly her clothes and shoes and hair and showing me how to tie my shoe.
Also I can remember my playmate on the playground most clearly all about them, everything hair color and all things.

@JudyEv My mother came with a friend of hers to admit me. We had to wait in the parlour and then a nun came. She asked my mother if I was the last one in the family and my mother said yes but exactly nine months later my brother was born *(lol)

@allknowing Yes, I had to go on the school bus and was carsick. I had an older brother and sister going to school so it could have been worse.

@allknowing It’s odd how our memories travel back to first grade. Some teachers names I’ve forgotten but I always remember Mrs Williams.
