$21,000 for Taylor Swift tickets

I recently read somewhere that a father spent $21,000 for four Taylor Swift tickets for his daughter and her friends.
I think the ones he originally bought never came in the mail and replacement seats were not available. The original tickets he got cost him $1800.
This is insane. For one, no matter how much money you have it is ridiculous to spend that much money on Taylor Swift tickets, or any other artist for that matter. That money can be put to much better use.
Also, if the original tickets weren’t delivered for whatever reason how come the company (stubhub) didn’t just sent them replacement tickets for the same seats? Can’t they just reprint them?
Now these way overpriced tickets were those resold by someone. Why is that even allowed in the first place? There should be a limit for how much over the original price someone can resell their tickets. Though I am against reselling tickets for more than you bought them for.

Some people are filthy rich. They don't mind throwing away money down the drain. That's exorbitant price and it's a greedy practice to resell tickets at such high prices.

Even if rich it is a dumb thing to do.

You can go on a long vacation for that kind of money.

@lovebuglena Yes. And can do so many other important things. But then a filthy rich person would not think that way.

Smart decision. You can see tons of concerts for that much money. Why spend it just on one?

@RebeccasFarm I may have gotten tickets on stub hub once but I only do Ticketmaster. Tickets there, even if resale, should be legit.

It is. I read yesterday that some people that got tickets to her concert in East Rutherford, NJ were scammed. They were sold fake tickets. And if I remember correctly someone flew from Florida for it and her tickets turned out to be fake.

I don’t like her so I wouldn’t pay 21 cents for them.
As for scalping (what they used to call reselling tickets for a profit), there’s really no way to stop it. They’ve tried for eons, and that was before the days of eBay and online sites that actually encourage it.

It’s one thing to resell for slightly over face value. But to do it for exorbitant prices and for that to be allowed is just wrong.

@lovebuglena — I completely agree. However, P.T. Barnum was incorrectly credited with saying “there’s a sucker born every minute.” Since the “parts shortage” car dealerships have been selling cars for as much as $10,000 OVER the MSRP. Why? Because someone’s dumb enough to pay it. As long as there’s a taker.
My last concert, four and a half years ago, cost me twenty bucks. For that I got to see Jerry Lee Lewis’ sister burn the house down with a friend of mine.

@FourWalls yeah. During height of pandemic cars were sold way over msrp. And I remember hubby telling me (he sells cars for a living) they weren’t even allowed to sell under a certain amount even if they wanted to.

Must be nice to have that much money. I love seeing my favorite artists in concert, but not enough where I'm going to spend that kind of money. Especially when you can just go to YouTube and watch a video someone recorded of the concert. I mean, it's not the same as being there in person, but still....

@lovebuglena I’m sure she’ll eventually make it to NYC. This tour is huge, and will probably go on for a long while.

If someone gifted me a ticket to her concert I'd gladly accept it lol. But I wouldn't spend thousands myself to see her. I wonder why she is not coming to NYC when she tours. That is very odd. Why would an artist not come to NYC?

@moffittjc the last number of tours she never made it to NYC. And I thought she moved to NYC and lives here. Unless that’s no longer true.

Probably he is so rich and it doesn't matter how much he spends. It is good enough to make his daughter happy. Of course I also think it is not worthy, but sometimes we can't understand rich people. They can even spend millions to invent singers to their party or something like that.

@lovebuglena Even if I was as rich as Bill Gates, I would also keep low profile

He surely does but it is crazy to spend that much. Even for his own daughter.

At this price; I wonder if they would go back stage and meet Taylor Swift. I would not pay this much for the tickets.
