Stopped By the Farmer's Market

Jay and I stopped at the Farmer's Market on Saturday. They were almost ready to close, but Karen and Bob were still selling handmade bars of soap. Jay loves the mango scented bar soap, so he purchased about five bars for himself. And Karen also had a display of homemade jam, so I bought a small jar of wild blueberry jam. My husband enjoyed visiting with Bob, while I wandered around viewing other display tables. One man was selling homemade pasta in various different types and ingredients. I had no idea the Farmer's Market had expanded, to include so many different items. It was my first time there, but certainly not my last! Photo: Borrowed from Pixabay

I don’t know why, but I never would have thought someone would be there to sell homemade pasta. That sounds like so much work! I’ve always wondered if one can taste the difference between store bought and homemade.

@kobesbuddy Oh, yes. I just never imagine pasta being one of those things. The best Farmer’s Market I ever went to was the one my Nana took us to. It was small, but they had the best fruit and vegetables I have ever tasted. So much so, that my dad wouldn’t eat tomatoes unless they were from that market. We have a lot of hard workers in our family, but my great grandparents who were farmers, had to be the most hard working, like you said. It wasn’t a choice, but a necessity.

Farmer's Market means, all the things that a farmer produced on the farm. My grandma made soap, did gardening(fresh produce) and made their own cheese&butter. Yes, farmers are very hard working people. These individuals don't do this for the fun. It's their own personal home business to make money.

@AmbiePam There's a huge difference from fresh to box pasta. You should try the fresh some time.

I wish that I'd seen some fresh greens. All the man had left was bags of spinach.

Farmers Markets are great for picking up things that are just a little bit different. We often buy jams or chutneys from such places.

@kobesbuddy Yes, that's true. Home-made is usually very nice.

Fresh veggies are always enjoyed. My neighbor's tomato plants are doing good. The homemade jams are good too.

We need to remember to go look and see if the local farmer's market actually sells anything except homemade crafts this year. We didn't bother going last year after we saw they only sold junk instead of home grown veggies and jams.

I like visiting the farmers market but their products are more expensive than grocery stores. I don’t buy but I like to look at the art.

I have gone to art/crafts shows, where individuals sell crafts they have made. The paintings are amazing! Jay uses Karen's glycerin soap, to keep his skin issues under control. It is more expensive at WalMart.

They had every type of fresh vegetables, fruits, anything else you'd imagine would be sold by a farmer:) Baskets of flowers and starter garden plants, grown in the country.

@kobesbuddy I'd like to find a couple more plants for our newly done flower garden. There are dozens of places around us that carry plants. We're right in the middle of nursery country.
