We Sing

Do any of you remember those little children's cassette tapes called We Sing?
When our granddaughter Kristin was about two or three, she had one of them and played it all the time.
They were Christian kids' songs sung by little kids.
We took Kristin with us on a trip to Ark to visit Dale's family so we of course took her little We Sing cassette.
Little did we know we'd be listening to Jesus Loves Me, Father Abraham (complete with most of the dance actions), His Banner Over me is Love and about 20 more adorable songs.
Until a thousand miles later they were more annoying than adorable.
We kept her busy until time came to drive home. I even bought We Sing #2, but nope, she wanted the original.
So there we went for another thousand miles home enjoying all those songs all over again.
To this day, thirty years later I can almost remember which song followed the last one.
But it was a fun trip really. She was so full of her quirky little self and really did love Jesus.
But no more We Sing for us!

@1creekgirl Those were pieces of music as my husband prefers music when he drives and not song. I remember very well that it started with "Moon River", followed by a French Can Can by Offenbach, Scheherazade, The Dance of Sugar Plums, then I think it was Mozart.

I found myself singing them for days! The photo is when we stopped by a little stream to stretch our legs and Kristin loved it so much, she cried when we left.

Did he love them? I was glad Kristin loved them, I just didn't realize we'd be a captive audience for ten hours each day, two going and two coming back!

@1creekgirl I can believe it - and I can also believe you knew the order of the songs too.

When we left home she was in her car seat in the middle of the backseat. Snacks and toys were piled high on both sides of her!

When we were raising our son it was Sharon, Lois and Brahm that we listened to in the car.
It was alot of fun.
Today, with the twins, it is the songs from Miss Rachel.
They are oldies, row row row your boat, of course you have to allow the babies to do the rowing in their little carseats, that is half of the fun.

Music is so universally needful for the soul no matter what country we're from.

Who's in the picture? I can imagine how annoying We Sing could become. I've never heard of those tapes. Hope you are feeling well today.

It's funny how those adorable songs can become a bit repetitive after a long trip. But it's all part of the fun and the memories we cherish. Thanks for sharing your story!

I was pleased to share. When we got about a hundred miles from my husband's relatives (after riding 900 miles), she started asking. "Most 'bout there?" I think she asked the same thing every ten minutes.
But I didn't blame her, we were tired of riding, too. Of course we spent the night before in a motel, but it was a very long trip. I can't believe we took her with us three years in a row.

Not We sing no I do remember sing and read along casettes though. I was on a CD of songs of Worship in Primary school with people in my grade... Wonder if it is on Youtube.
"Father Abraham had many sons many sons had father Abraham." my brain has been jumping from songs of worship to "Whats love got to do, got to do with it?" for about a week now... Yesterday I had my highschools song stuck in my head "Amid the hills and valleys" uff make it stop.
