They are back at work again out on the street. The electric company is adding fiber optic cable for DSL connections here. This is a long time coming. They have their own broadband service, that is supposed to be up and running in some areas maybe by this summer. However, I don't know if this cable can be used for other service providers like google FI or something like that. I don't know enough about how this works. Tmobile has some very good internet offers. I suspect they would have their own proprietary cable though. However, this is a step in the right direction. I would love, love to dtich my current provider and get something better and more affordable.

Yes, but I guess my question is how soon is this actually going to be operational, and which providers can use it

Moving or not I would take adavantage of it Ocean. I do plan to try to sell after the holidays early spring unless the market is in an absolute pit...as some are predicting. Values around here still seem to be decent though. This is a desirable area that is being bought up fairly quickly. We will have to see.

@Marilynda1225 If you are in a rural area, they kind of have you over a barrel and they know it!

It is interesting, the Elec company seems to have contracted this out to a totally hispanic crew. I wonder where they found them? Well, they seem to know what they are doing anyway. I asked one who i a supervisor of sorts, he said likely 3 or 4 months before it is registered and good to go.

Bad weather certainly effects the satellite, not sure how much with broadband as it is under ground.

Absolutely, that is the thing about a rural area, the few providers know they have you over a barrel and take advantage of it!

@snowy22315 Good to know. We have all kinds of deals here too, but I've heard people say the service is the same for everyone.
