Changing Times.

Once upon a time - before l began eating sensibly , l could easily consume a dozen mangoes a day - the smaller ones of course , and not all at one sitting. Now l can eat only three at the most - moderation is key. The problem is l cannot think just what to do with the abundance of mangoes around this season. I cannot give them to neighbors - almost every house in this town boasts two or three mango trees on their property Mangoes have a lot of vitamins and minerals . They also have mangiferin which may protect against certain diseases - but the mango is also a very sweet fruit.... Did you ever have to deal with an overabundance of a seasonal fruit or vegetable? How did you handle it? - or how would you handle it? Which is your favorite and most used fruit or vegetable?

Do you have a way to make some of them into jelly? That way they wouldn't all have to be consume right away, and end up spoiled. My dad's wife has a blackberry bush that is so abundant she can't eat them all at the same time, and there are so many to freeze! So what she doesn't make into a pie, she tries to turn into a jelly or jam.

Here I use broccoli and Brussels sprouts and carrots. I have no trees here to pick from. I just buy at the stores, whatever is in season. Fruit I get is whatever I feel like at the time. Usually an orange, banana, or apple commonly.

We have a local apple which is different in texture from the imported ones. The vegetables you mentioned are all very, very healthy.

I like mangoes. Could you send some of your surpluses here, please? I would make them into jams. Or cart them to relatives who live in another area.

I haven’t had that problem. If I have an over abundance I can it. I don’t have a large freezer so I can’t freeze more than my small one will hold. I couldn’t bear to see food go to waste

There aren't many apple trees in my area, but we had one . During the season we would allow people to come in and pick what they want.. that tree was blown away by a hurricane some years ago. However mango trees remain in abundance.

Yummy! I love mangoes. I mostly make mango jam and mango ice cream when I am in my Philippines home. I have mango tree there and when it is mango season and I am there, I love making the jam and the ice cream.

Some years we get a ton of apples that grow on our tree. I’d eat about 6 a day sometimes. Free food! How I wish mango grew like that here.

Apricot, that is a very good fruit to have around. It is rich in vitamin A and beta carotene which promotes good eye health.

I've had mangoes. They're okay, but they are very hard to cut up, so I don't bother with them. My favorite fruit is the banana.

I didn't have problem with mangoes for I have only one tree in my garden and the mangoes ripe gradually, two to five a day. I find it difficult to distribute bananas as they a big florescent that I can't consume.

Depending on the fruit I freeze it if I have too much and then use them in a smoothie. I think mangoes would freeze well.

Wow! I envy you. I hope I can have mango trees in my backyard too. But they should take up so much space though and might jeopardize the photosynthesis of other plants especially flowers.

Just one tree should be enough, won't take up too much space. I would trade my mango trees for orange trees.

Hhere I live also a lot of mango trees. And when the harvest comes, the mangoes will be abundant. Just like you, every house here has a mango tree, so it's impossible for us to share it with our neighbours. And it is also impossible to spend it alone. However, there are mango buyers here who will buy one tree directly. So, he will offer us a price, if we agree, then he will buy all the mangoes on the tree.
