Thanks to the teamwork of the Broomfield Police Department Animal Services Unit and the Broomfield Public Works and Utility Services who answered an emergency call for help that a Chihuahua whose gender was not mentioned got in trouble chasing a rabbit.
The Chihuahua got stuck in a storm drain last Tuesday which required the animal services unit of the Broomfield Police Department to ask the utility employees to lift the heavy metal grate to get the dog out of the storm drain safely.
The dog was not injured in the incident. The owner of the dog did thank both the animal service officers and the utility workers for rescuing his or her dog from a tragic encounter with a rabbit.

@RebeccasFarm I also hope that the chihuahua learned his or her lesson not to run into storm drains again.

That is true that teamwork between the police and the utility workers paid off in rescuing the dog from the trap that he or she was in chasing a rabbit.

Storm drains and such can trap a lot of animals. The drains are necessary, but still can be deadly.
This week, we had a baby duckling that tumbled down a drain in our street. We have 2 tiny lakes in our area, and have many ducks and geese travel through, and many just live here in the area of course. But the city sent out 2 men who rescued the baby duck, so all was well.

Yiu are right that drains are needed but also deadly for humans and animals to be trapped inside.

Our drains would let in a small animal, but there is no way a human, even a tiny one, could fit in those openings.
