Another batch of infamous potato soup has been made and is now in the freezer. This time around I’m thinking about trying an experiment of mixing my soup with a can of Progresso light broccoli and cheddar soup. For the cooking enthusiasts here, I made a discovery that may or may not interest you. There’s a low-fat brand of cheese called Laughing Cow, and their garlic and herb cheese makes a GREAT “topping” for a baked potato. You’re welcome. (Or not. ) Tomorrow’s 1983 song will be coming to you live and direct from the Honda dealership, as I’ll be getting my car serviced. I don’t need an extended warranty, I get my oil changed every 5,000 miles! Then Thursday, it’s pulmonologist time! I’m having one of my least favorite parts of pulmonology: the PFT. That’s “pulmonary function test” for those of you lucky enough to never have had one. It’s a weird thing (and definitely NOT something you want to take a selfie during): you breathe into this machine with your nose pinched off, and every minute or so they’ll tell you to “take in a deep breath and blow, blow, blow, blow, blow!!!!” After the test I’ll go downstairs to the clinic and get the results. After that, two more appointments later in the month: “civilian” primary care doctor, and semi-annual mental health checkup with my psychologist. Thank God I haven’t been having trouble lately. Unfortunately — and those of you who have anxiety disorders know this — that can change tomorrow. As for the photo, that’s another screen grab from my home movies. That’s my brother and me in the “birdcage” at the Old Jail in St. Augustine, Florida. We were such cute kids. I hope y’all have a great evening!!

I've had that test done after they found asthma... I'd run out of air and still be told to "keep blowing"... idiot doctors! And here I thought that was a new way to keep kids out of trouble.

No, that’s the old tried and true way to keep kids out of trouble.

I enjoy that cheese. It’s tasty and low-point on the Weight Watchers scale!!

You certainly were cute kids! I've never seen a pulmonologist. I do have an appointment to get my depression meds adjusted tomorrow. I asked to move it up a couple of weeks because like I said, I intend for those medications to be adjusted. It was a nice four years of stability, but those emotions aren't doing so well at this time.

I’m hoping they don’t mess with my meds. It works, so let’s not try anything cute. Sorry you’re having trouble with your meds. Hope things improve quickly.

@FourWalls Thank you. Surely they won't change yours; why mess with a good thing. But good lord, you said it well when you declared you hope they didn't try anything cute. Because honest to goodness, they do that!

In France we had portioned cheese slices called "La vache qui rit" (laughing cow) and they were pretty good. I am a lucky one, my husband had that test. It is more than annoying. That is a lovely photo. We planned so many times to visit St. Augustine and for a reason or another, never arrived to visit.

I just passed through more or less when I was there in February, but I love that city so much. I don’t know if those pulmonary function tests are supposed to mimic an asthma attack or what, but they are woeful.

@FourWalls - I regret not visiting St.Augustine, I am sure it's a lovely city. I think those pulmonary function tests mimic an asthma attack. People risk to die of a heart attack.

It too a while. There’s a photo on our 1967 vacation of us in the brig on the USS Alabama.

@LindaOHio — when I was stationed in Jacksonville I worked in security so I had to clean the brig. Yep, there’s a definite pattern.

It’s a great cheese, regardless of the flavor you get! Glad to see it’s so Weight Watchers-friendly!!! You have a blessed evening.

Thank you. Probably nothing extraordinary. The spirometer at the allergist’s office doesn’t show any wild swings.
