Daughter home at long last, we had a good visit today.

My daughter and her husband have been caring for his parents, both nearly 90, until full time help could be found for them--off and on, mostly on, for over a month. They were glad to do it, but they are tired! They got home the other day, stopped by to surprise me, and today I went to their house for dinner and some time together. My son's friend was off this afternoon so he had someone to hang out with and I didn't feel too guilty. I had such a nice visit, we have some other times planned out in the near future if it works out well, which hopefully it will. It was so nice to catch up and not have to text or call. Such a nice time, but it sure did go fast! Hope you all had a good day, as well.

@MarieCoyle I hope when my hubby is gone, God forbid, I can find someone to do some things for me. I'm glad they found some help.

@LindaOHio Nursing home care seems beyond terrible now, they are all short staffed, and it's a terrible place to be. I hope you make a plan for each of you, so that whoever goes first can know what will happen.

They did find some that so far have proven to be wonderful. It just took awhile to find them. Oh, and money, of course.

It is very demanding to take care of people who are in their 90s. I am so glad they visited and you went to their house for dinner.

@MarieCoyle Family members are the best caregivers, as they care for the elders.

@LadyDuck Yes, they are if a person is able to do that. His parents did not want their children to have to care for them. But of course they did, but only after his dad insisted in hiring caregivers. I'm just glad he has the means for that to happen.

Yes, it is. When people can not do much for themselves, it's hard on the caregivers. And of course I understand there are special circumstances and medical needs as well, it can get very tough. Thank you, Anna.

Aw, that's wonderful! And your daughter is in good health? It must take a lot of energy to care for two people close to ninety years old. I am so happy to hear you all had such a pleasant visit.

No, her health is not the best, but it's way, way better now than it was a few years ago. She does get proper rest. They just didn't want to leave his parents at all until they found people they knew they could count on to be there. Thank you, Amber.

I'm glad they finally found someone to care for his parents so your daughter and SIL could come home again. It's always nice to catch up with family when we have time. We had some errands to run this morning and then came home to sleep... It was nice.

@MarieCoyle I wouldn't be happy if Pretty moved very far away from me, so I do understand. Thanks.

It's so nice to have them back home. It does give me a good feeling to have them nearby, she and I have always been close and I love it that they moved so close to me. Glad you got some sleep!

It’s always a blessing when we get to spend time with our loved ones, especially when we haven’t seen them for a while. I’m glad you had a nice visit!

We usually see each other at least once a week. But they have been so busy with his parents, it isn't that far to their house--about 130 miles? But it's high traffic, and someone had to be there with the parents until other arrangements can be made. I'm just glad they are home again, thank you, Jeff.

They are very sweet to his parents and wonderful to me. There is a big age difference between his parents and myself--22+ years? But his parents are so very kind to my daughter and to me.
