Recently, there was an earthquake in our area. I was working from home today at around 10 o'clock when I got a little lightheaded and saw that everything was trembling. My aquarium indicated the earthquake was real when I first saw that the water was trembling. Its epicenter is a little bit away from us and it was not that strong. Its epicenter began in the waters and had a 6.2 magnitude, according to reports. Thank goodness no tsunamis were produced after that. Have you felt it, my fellow citizens?

I believe that they do felt it unless they are traveling during that time they would not feel it. Good thing that it didn't do much damage.

@rsa101 - When we had a quite powerful quake in Monte Carlo, I was outside and I heard the noise but almost did not feel the shake. My husband at home was scared and many of our books fell from the shelves.

I am in Metro Manila I felt the initial shake and the slight moving sideways. It was disorienting to feel I wonder how those in the epicenter had felt.

@rakski I see maybe I was too busy working that I noticed it only for a few seconds or so. I felt the swaying more than the shaking. I just felt like a jolt wave up and down then swaying sideways.

@rsa101 oh same. I felt the swaying motion. It was quite long because even after I called my kids to the living room, the shaking was still there

@rsa101 it is an earthquake that is not far from land and causes more severe damage than an earthquake that is on the seabed.

So far my place seem safe and there are no major damages around. We were a bit far from the epicenter so we just felt the tremor.

@DaddyEvil Those living near my place would surely felt it. Many of the schools and office establishment did have their evacuation drills in practice. My wife's school did just that and she said it was very tiring to be on alert since she teaches in a grade school so hard to manage students that young to stay put.

We didn't feel anything here and I'm glad it wasn't strong at your place. In a bit earthquake, aquariums would be at big risk.

I don’t believe I have ever felt an earthquake that strong although I have felt earthquakes. I am happy you did not experience anything bad happening to you or your property.

It is scary to hear that as 6.1 magnitude is supposed to be a big earthquake. I hope no more damages in your side.

No significant harm was done far from the epicenter. It is stated that the earthquake originated in the sea and traveled inland until it reached us; nevertheless, given that we were roughly 100 kilometers from the epicenter, I believe ours was not as strong as the others.

I guess you are too far from us. To other areas it was really frightening to do here in the capital most offices and schools were able to practice in actual their earthquake drills.

In some ways, it appears that no one was harmed. I didn't hear anything about anyone being hurt or dying as a result of the earthquake. However, the increasing frequency of earthquakes is concerning.

I understand your concern. I, too, live in a country with many earthquakes, The grade was Richter or Mercalli?

Ours is Richter, I think. We must be in the fire circle. We also have a few volcanoes that are now erupting at the same moment. Notwithstanding the fact that volcanologists claimed the earthquake had no volcanic origin.
