I went to art class again on Thursday. The taxi came just on time. It was one of those mini bus ones again but I'm getting used to getting in and out of them now. It was very hot so I didn't bother having a cup of tea. The little doggy came again today because his (or her) owner was back off her holidays. They put a bowl of water down for the dog, whose name is Ezzie (which is obviously short for something). But then the dog went under the large table at the side where the projector screen is and started licking the floor! We told his owner that he was licking the floor, and she said yes he does that sometimes. He must be a rescue dog because she said that before she got him he'd been starved, and she didn't know if that was the reason why he licks the floor. Today me and Paul were doing something different to everyone else because we're the newbies. Everyone else was doing an orange plant, but we were starting with the basics. First we were given a piece of watercolour card which had the outline of a colour wheel on it and some squares underneath and on the other side. We were given a palette that should have been in our starter packs but they'd forgot to put it in, 2 brushes of different sizes and a toothbrush which we didn't end up using. We had two plastic mugs infront of us with water in and a cloth at the side. First the tutor squoze some blue, red and yellow paint into different bits of our palettes. These are the primary colours. We were told to use plenty of water, and we made up some of each colour. Then we started colouring in sections of the colour wheel, first the blue, then the red and then the yellow, leaving 3 sections inbetween each. Then we mixed the red with the yellow to make orange, and we painted that in the middle bit between the red and the yellow on the colour wheel. We did the same with the blue and the red to make purple and the blue and the yellow to make green. These are the secondry colours. Then we mixed the blue with the purple, the purple with the red, the red with the orange, the orange with the yellow, the yellow with the green and the green with the blue to make tertiary colours which were then painted in there adjoining sections on the colour wheel. After our colour wheel was finished we practised some techniques in the squares below. We did a flat wash, a graduated wash, we did another wash that I can't remember the name of! We did wax resist, we made a face with masking fluid and when that was dry we painted over it and when that was dry we peeled the masking fluid off and revealed the face that was left behind. We put salt on some paint to create a mottled effect. We put some cling film on some paint, but I kept doing it wrong! And we did a glaze. Then we turned the sheet over and did some more on the squares on the other side. We did effects with a sponge, we did some linear strokes. We practised some of the other ones from before and I practised mixing brown because Paul wanted to know how to mix brown! When we'd finished doing that it was time to do our misty mountain. The tutor chose the colour black for us to do our misty mountain in which I thought was the wrong choice. We put in our horizon line first, then we drew the basic shape of the mountains out. We put masking fluid inbetween the two lines we'd drawn as our horizon line which we removed when the painting was finished and dry. We used some of the techniques we'd been practicing before and eventually it came out as you see above! At about 4:55pm my taxi driver poked his head in to let me know he was here! I had to wipe my palette clean and put everything away then I was off home. I said goodbye to the dog first! When I got home I told my Mum all about my day and I had my dinner. I still had black paint underneath my fingernails!

@prashu228 It happens a lot late in my night... Only you aren't usually around. I'm also watching Jurassic World Dominion. I haven't seen it before... I think I'm about halfway through it... It's okay.

The art class sounds interesting and you are doing good. I think that the colour black for mist is a good choice.

Thank you very much. Yes, it is interesting. I'm glad you like my pictures. You do? I just thought it was a very dark colour. I thought maybe raw sienna might be better. I did one at home similar with raw sienna a while back.

@Sharonelton the class sounds wonderful. I also like your word for the past tense of the verb to squeeze!

You are learning such a lot at those classes. It's hard to get paint out from under fingernails.
