Happy Juneteenth. For those of you not familiar with the holiday, here's what it says on the internet: "Juneteenth commemorates an effective end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed." Our forecast has changed a little bit. We have a chance of some showers this week which will be welcomed. No Meals on Wheels today because of Juneteenth. Breakfast - None Lunch - Mac and cheese from the KFC meal Dessert/Snack - Cinnamon muffin and decaf coffee Dinner - Spinach/artichoke ravioli What did you eat yesterday? Photo Credit: Mine - Sloppy Joes, Key West, Florida - Ernest Hemingway used to hang out here

It's sweltering in the south. Hope it warms up for you. It's around 80 here.

@MommyOfEli2013 A freeze warning? That's ridiculous! It's almost July.

@LindaOHio Where my husband is from it's going to be like 113 tomorrow. I'd take the 80s. It only got to the low 60s today. Tonight there is a freeze warning.

I wonder why Juneteenth wasn’t a National holiday until recently.

Because it was a holiday that was added for the Blacks.

@lovebuglena I don't know. They feel reparations are due them or something like that.

I did not realize that it was an official holiday today in your country. Just another day here, it looks sunny outside and should be warm. I am going to go into my office and fire up my work computer and bring up my programs in a few minutes.

It's a holiday but not for everyone. The Federal workers, post office, etc. are closed; but not everyone gets off. It's on an individual basis.

I searched yesterday and I discovered that it is a federal holiday from only a few years.

Your favorite pork patties and tater tots. I had a creamy gravy with them,

I think I might tire of them after a while.
