The F Word

I have recently heard some feedback on the f-word that got me thinking. I never liked the word. My ex would come home from work as a construction manager spewing it about every other word. It sounded horrible. Here I was a writer looking for the right word to use. I felt the word was one that the lazy speaker used to express themselves because they were ignorant and didn't know any better. And, it was quite the cuss word. It used to be shocking to hear it and, so it had a great impact. But, now it is just another commonly used descriptive word. My grandson would use it after chatting with his young friends. In my world men seemed to use it much more than women. Honestly, I do use it on occasion but, only when I am so perturbed I need a very precise word to use in those lost and over-the-edge moments. Of course, it does have its history. Back in the day of the English Kings if any important person(like dukes and earls) wished to marry they had to get what was called a "Royal Dispensation" and was royal permission. That meant Fornicating Under the Consent of the King. What I have realized is that it can be a great intensifier and can be used as a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb. It is useful. I am warming up to the world. What do you think of this word? What is your favorite time or situation in which you like to use it? How many times a week do you think you use it?

Its a nasty word. The other nasty word is 'suck'. "You suck" has a very dirty meaning that very few people think about.

I don’t use the word and don’t know anyone who does. I read the word in books and it doesn’t bother me but if a person used the word in my presence I would be horrified.

I don’t like the word, and I have never used it. Kids around here say it as often as they should be saying thank you. I get very tired of it.

The word that you mentioned in my opinion is not that offensive to me compared to a word that similar to a donkey. When I get angry on occasion when a show ends on a bad note like a sports event.
