This post was inspired by LOL and @Ambiepam recently when Lol(Jimbo) was telling how he met Yvonne. I met Dale on a blind date. I had just gotten home from school (12th grade) and he took me to a drive in movie with another couple. We were living in Hawaii where my dad was stationed in the Coast Guard. Dale was there in the Navy. I always liked southern country boys and he was from Arkansas. So cute with black hair and kind of an Elvis look. I decided that night I wanted to get to know that boy better! We were so young, but got married exactly a year later...I was 18 and he was 20. We thought we were grown, of course. That was 57 years ago and although we had a lot of rough years together, we're closer now than we've ever been. I think we finally grew up! What about you or maybe an interesting story about your parents?

I love hearing your story. It makes me smile thinking about an Elvis twin courting you! I’m not married, and although I love my parent’s first meeting story, I actually think my sister and her husband’s story might be cuter. They both went to the same big church, but didn’t meet until they were cast as husband and wife in a church play. Eight months later, they were married, and have been now for 17 years. She was 27, and he was 35.

That really is a sweet story. Is this the sister with the three kids we read about?

@1creekgirl Yes! They adopted their first one, Amyra of course, three years after they were first married. Four years later came Hudson, and four more years later came Annelyn. Jeff (my BIL) is 52 now, and he says he’s done. No more kiddos.

Well I met friend who was a previous husband at a singles dance. He was a good looking guy and a good dancer, although a bit strange..( I should have taken note then). He does have a heart of gold though. Not sure what life would have been like had I not met him.

@1creekgirl No, we are just friends now. He would like to be a husband, but that ship has sailed as far as I am concerned.

I'm sorry, I'm a little confused. Are you saying he is your husband now?

My husband was the younger associate of a financial office where I was hired to translate documents from English and French to Italian (to distribute to the clients). We met the month of February 1970. At the end of the year he decided to open his own office and asked if I agreed to follow him and become his assistant (w were NOT dating). I agreed, one year later we were married.

@1creekgirl it was the mirror sitting on top of the church organ so that the organist could see the people bringing the offering to the front, and what I could see was wife material.

Vince and I met at a brass band rehearsal. He was just there for the week and someone asked if he'd met me. He said 'I haven't had that pleasure' which I thought was pretty charming! lol

I haven't had a boyfriend until I was 26 years old, working. I met him in the office where I work but we have different jobs and departments. He could only see me during lunch breaks, and when it was about to go home. I didn't mind him at first because I have no plan of having a suitor or a boyfriend. He was the friend of all my co-workers except me. He was friendly, with a sense of humor and everybody would laugh at his jokes. We became friends and got to know more of him as time passed by.

That's such a wonderful story about ever-lasting love. I met my husband when I was 19 and married him when I was 20 and he was 23. It was love that developed as we got to see each other often. But there was no doubt we were so in love with each other.

Not to much to say about my parents. They claimed it was love at first sight, and married quickly. Dad passed a year and a half after mom. My husband and I met at Pizza Hut when I was working there. I thought he was trying to bitterly steal from me, so I told him to F off. He didn't listen, and now we're married living in our own house.

My parents' story is quite interesting. Similar to Romeo and Juliet. My grandparents were rivals and it's a very long story.

Congrats on your 57 years together. I met my husband in May of 1988 at a shrimp boil. We were both with someone else. In November of 1988 I went to spend the weekend with a friend of mine and my husband and I were reintroduced. We have been together ever since. We married July 7 , 1989.

My was an arranged marriage. In India marriage is more a family union than the union of a couple. It was my husband's family who came and proposed for my hand and that was how I got married.

I married my girlfriend's brother. He was home from the service; and I saw him and knew that he was the one. I did something I never thought I would do and asked him out to a cookout a coworker was having. We dated for four years and were married in 1970. The years have just flown by. I wish we had another 50 or so. Have a good day.
