An Eerie Whisper

I found a visual voicemail on my phone. I missed it earlier from several days ago. We had talked earlier and I thought she forgot something she wanted to tell me. I listened and it was just a lot of people talking or a TV program. I was about to delete it but decided to hear the rest. I heard my friend's voice a couple of times. Twice, I thought I heard a whisper saying, "Help." I listened some more and heard it again. I don't know if it was my friend, the TV, or someone in the group. Or, perhaps I heard it all wrong. I don't know what to think. What do you think? Did anything like that ever happen to you? What do you think I should do about it?

May be she was talking and did not realize she called your number. Call her and you will know.

@akalinus It happened to my niece, she called me without realizing she did. I heart her TV, her talking time by time, then nothing. It happens more than you think, there is nothing mysterious.

I texted her last night and she said she did not know she called. Anyway, she said she was fine. But, I know what I heard.

@akalinus It very well could have been the TV. I know they can leave eerie sounds on voice mails as I’ve heard some freaky ones myself.

She texted and said she is okay. I don't think it was my imagination. Do you think it might have been someone else or the TV? She lives in an assisted living place.

No, I've never heard anything like that. I would call my friend back and ask if everything was okay... and maybe offer to go get them if they wanted to talk privately.

@akalinus Oh, I see... Then, I guess the best you can do is call her when you have time and just ask if everything is okay. I hope she's fine and you misunderstood something or you were hearing a program on her television.

I can't do that. She lives in another state. If I ever get to go back home, I might invite her out for a bite to eat or something and we could talk.

Did you call your friend to check up on her? Even if nothing is wrong and she is fine, you two can have a good laugh about it later. But if she is in need of help, then you clearly did the right thing by reaching out to her.

I would be calling her back to see if everything is ok..I really hope that it is. But it could also be a butt dial and your hearing back ground noise.

There was lots of background noise. I'm sure it was a butt-dial. Usually I delete those messages that are just background noise but I decided to listen to this one.

@thebos I know what I heard. I'm not sure how that got on there, maybe the TV or someone fooling around saying help. It gave me the chills when I heard it. Like what?!

If you really think it was someone asking for help, I would be calling now and not waiting until the evening. Another thing is you could have someone else listen to it,and see if they heard the same thing.

Call you friends and ask her about it. You probably heard right and it could have been the tv. We could have lots of assumptions but your friend can clarify it for you.

She says she is okay. I can't do much about it because she lives in another state. We have been friends for almost 30 years. I can't believe how fast time goes.
