Well, the “first half” of the baseball season is in the books. A misnomer (most teams have played 91 of their 162 games), but that’s what they call the All-Star Break. Can’t believe the Cincinnati Reds are in first place. Since my other two favorite teams are both NL Central teams and they are fighting for last place (the Cubs and the Cardinals), I’m hoping the Reds can hold on to the lead. I don’t know if you heard about this, but the Reds’ rookie sensation Elly De La Cruz stole second, third, and home in the space of about three pitches yesterday. That’s wild!! Wild, in the other direction, is former West Virginia head basketball coach Bob Huggins. He got in trouble for anti-Catholic and anti-gay remarks he made on a radio station a few months ago, then last month he was arrested for DUI. He resigned the next day. A smart move on his part, IMO. But hold the phone!! Yesterday he announced he’s demanding that West Virginia reinstate him as coach because he “never” resigned. He’s got a lawyer to force them to re-hire him. Ironically, he has another lawyer who’s working out the deal of the resignation he claims he didn’t make. As a friend of mine said on Facebook yesterday, “I guess the resignation’s only valid if you’re sober when you make it.” Seriously, though, it’s apparent that Huggins needs some professional help. That’s not his first DUI, and I think a less prominent coach would have been canned a long time ago for the slurs he made on the radio. Okay, that’s sports, now over to the weather center! One thing I love about live cams is that some of them have the ability to be “rewound” for anywhere from an hour to 12 hours. Because of that I was able to watch a vicious rainstorm roll through St. Augustine today. I saw it on my weather app, warned as being severe, while I was at lunch. When I got home I pulled up the live cams in St. Augustine and watched the storm come in. It’s amazing how quickly those storms in Florida go from a couple of drops to “you can’t see the river that’ 20 feet from the camera” in a minute. When we first moved to Florida when I was a teenager I quickly got used to those “12:30-2:30 breaks” for thunderstorms. Like clockwork, the sky would start darkening, then the rain would pour so hard you thought about building an ark, then two hours later you couldn’t tell it had rained. Since it’s supposed to be gorgeous weather tomorrow I might take that run over to Lexington to see the Mary Todd Lincoln House. Windows of opportunity for good weather in July are rare, so take ‘em when you get ‘em! The photo is one of the many from my vacations. I took that in 2019 at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Every baseball fan, and probably a lot of people who know nothing about baseball, recognize that as the great Babe Ruth’s uniform. That’s it, I’m off to soak in the tub! Y’all have a great evening!

Well, at least I can have that satisfaction of knowing my butt is not bigger than Babe Ruth's.

I came so many times to Florida, I have experienced that "typical" weather. It is too hot today, I am planning to stay inside.

@FourWalls We do not have air conditioning, I have a fan for the hottest days of July and today the fan is turning.

I haven't been keeping up with baseball and don't know where the Cleveland Guardians stand. Man, they play a LOT of games. Drive safely and enjoy your trip to Lexington. Enjoy your day.

I-64 is shut down from a five-vehicle accident, so no trip to Lexington. Cleveland is in first at the break by half a game over the Twinkies.

Haven't followed MLB as much as I did the past couple of seasons. Need to pick it up this second half.

@FourWalls for the sake of their fans, hope they turn around their fortunes after the all-star break.

Hope you’re not a fan of the A’s or the Royals…neither of them have 30 wins yet.

Elly De La Cruz is a beast and I hate saying this but I like watching the Reds play even more than the Cardinals this year. You guys do have some fair-weather fans though. Had like 10 fans in the stadium last year and this year. Finally started to do good and now they look like Cardinal crowds

I’ve said it before but it bears repeating: Waino should have retired last year with Albert and Yadi. It would have been such a great ending to his career instead of this garbage this year.

The Cubbies are still playing in their ivy-covered burial ground. But at least they aren’t as bad as the A’s.

He was a chunky boy, nowhere near the “athletic build” of modern-day players.

I love baseball. Hockey is great as well. Cricket is also fun. I love rugby but it’s not very popular in America.

I didn't realize Lexington had Mary Todd Lincolns house! I'll have to check that out the next time I'm in Lexington.
