Gas Prices, or What a Difference Driving 3 Miles Can Make

Just over a mile from my house is a Circle K convenience store and gas station. It would be very convenient if only the card readers on its pumps worked with my credit cards. For some reason, the pumps at Circle K stores don't like my cards. I don't know why. They work everywhere else. So, with tears in my eyes (@Fourwalls should get the reference) I headed to the Dollar General. Am I ever glad I did? You bet. Gas at Circle K was $3.41/gal. At Dollar General, it was $3.17. The difference becomes significant when I'm feeding the Beast. And DG had no problem with my card. How are gas prices in your area? The had dropped to just over $3.00/gallon here just this past Saturday. I guess the greedheads raised it for the weekend.

I'm in tears you could get gas in the 3s. Ours is a little over mid 4s at best. And you could get gas at Dollar General (am I right in thinking it's a dollar store?).

Yes, Dollar General is a dollar store. My oldest son lives near Lancaster, CA. He had a hard time getting used to the gas prices and other high costs when he moved there from North Dakota.

@DWDavis But they sell gas at Dollar General ? Ah, I know Lancaster! He must be super hot out there. I'll bet the CA cost of living was a shock to the system!!

@much2say He had an idea what he was in for because he had friends who'd lived in the area before. Yes, he's commented about the heat. It was 100+ for a few days in a row recently.

I paid $4.20/gallon today for super grade. Luckily my little convertible only takes 10 gallons.

Do you still have full-service gas stations only, or are they allowing self-service now?

@NJChicaa Now that Oregon has voted to go self-service, y'all are the only ones left.

We have never had a Dollar General that provided the option to fill up with gas. I had no idea that was possible. Today, at Walmart, gas was $3.00 a gallon. Just ten days ago it was $2.82 a gallon.

This is the only DG I've seen with gas pumps. Probably because the store that was there sold out and the pumps were already in place. The Sam's in town had gas for $2.92 last Saturday.

Mr. Davis. My name is Kitty, Esq.. and I am representing Horse. The Horse has a Copyright on all posts about gas prices, and must be compensated at 1% of earnings for all MyLot posts about gas prices. We can discuss figures after I have received your response. Side note: I can easily be bought off with wet food. I most enjoy seafood combinations in "gravy." The Horse only feeds me wet food once a day. This is between you and me.

Dear Kitty, Esq., On the advice of my attorney, I will humbly offer to send you the requested compensation if you can assure me that Mr. Horse will be kept in the dark about this. Your discretion in this matter is greatly appreciated. DW Davis

Jay paid $3.18 for gas yesterday, the lowest it has been in two years! Over the 4th, the price was $3.69per gallon for our town tourists to pay.

I'm wondering if Circle K jacked their price up for the weekend because so many people will be leaving town to drive to the beach.

Gas prices here in Virginia are in $3.30 to $3.50 range, so I'll be paying more to refill the Beast to get home than I did to get here. At least it's all downhill from here back to NC.

The local pumps have it for 3.29 but it is more elsewhere. I wish DG in this area had gas pumps. I would get it there all the time.

I’ll mumble something incoherent about our gas prices, since any time I say something out loud they shoot up.

My hubs gassed up today for around $2/L for the high grade gasoline. The alternative is getting an EV but I do not feel that the technology is there just yet for our climate.

I paid $3.09 a gallon a few days ago and saw the price dropped another 2 cents when I took Pretty to her doctor today.

That happens here too. At weekends and on holidays, the price goes up. It's criminal behaviour really.

Considering how heavily subsidized by fossil fuel industry is, such jumps in price are definitely immoral.

Gas prices in my area around $2.96 a gallon for regular, $3.36 dollars per gallon for midgrade and $3.71 per gallon for premium in the service area near my home.
