My Classic Diet Coke Caffeine Free is in jeopardy since they are saying more and more that Aspartame causes cancer. I also drink Diet A&W Root Beer. It's not that often; but it is a cause for concern. Hollywood actors in SAG/AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild/American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) have joined the writers that are on strike. This is devastating to the entertainment industry. The WHO and the UN have stated that it may now be easier for humans to get infected by the bird flu. If you remember, thousands and thousands of chickens had to be killed due to this disease. Over- the-counter hearing aids were approved some time ago. Now OTC birth control is approved for sale. Breakfast - Protein bar Lunch - Meals on Wheels - BBQ Chicken breast, baked beans, spinach, mac and cheese, cornmeal muffin and fruit cocktail Dessert/Snack - Chocolate pie and decaf coffee - yum! Dinner - Chicken tenders and potato salad Photo Credit: Mine - McDonald's, Islamorada, Florida Keys. The restaurant was made to look like the inside of a boat.

That's an interesting restaurant. It looks like you had more to eat than usual. I heard about the strike on the news yesterday. I hadn't heard we could get the bird flu. Yesterday's food: Breakfast - oatmeal with blueberries, and a banana. Lunch/Dinner - salmon and potato. Dessert - strawberry shortcake. Kept my calories under 1000.

I don’t know how I feel about the over the counter birth control. I saw a story about it in the news today. I completely understand the importance of access, but some females have bad reactions to birth control, and they might not fully recognize the health risks involved if they aren’t a good candidate to be on it. It might be rare, but I just think of an acquaintance who took her friend’s unneeded birth control (illegal, and a bad idea) and had a terrible reaction to it. If she had gone to a doctor, they would have been able to tell her some of the medication she was already on could not be taken with birth control. Obviously, there are pros and cons with everything. What do you think, Linda? I had carrots, salmon, peas, shrimp pasta, and an orange.

I think birth control should be taken under a doctor's supervision; but I would rather see a young person taking the birth control rather than getting pregnant.

I wonder….John Larroquette and Melissa Rauch are producers of the revamped Night Court. They’re also actors on the show. Does that mean they’re striking against themselves? Chicken taco salad for lunch (my last one until after the colonoscopy), and an egg white scrambled egg thingie made with a vegetable mixture of tomatoes, onions, zucchini, and squash that my neighbor gave me. That was GOOD.

@LindaOHio Supposedly, if they are in the SAG, they have to strike, and there are 160,000 actors in it.

I found out years ago that aspartame affected my vision. So it's regular sodas for me. But I need to replace them with water.

@LindaOHio After these kidney stones, I need to drink more water, but I hate it. The only way I can drink it is to get it really cold with lots of ice.

@1creekgirl I have kidney stones too; and I hardly drink anything during the day. I know I should but I hate water.

Neat restaurant. I drink soda so seldom that I just opt for sugar sweetened. I wish more things were sweetened with stevia or other plant based healthier sweeteners.

Me too. They are probably too expensive; but I'd be willing to pay a little more for pop with stevia.

We must be very careful where we get our chicken so that we do not get sick from it. Now is not the time to switch sources. I made a beef and broccoli stir fry for supper for us last night, it was a nice change.

I had to look twice at the photo, but the dining room is set up to look like a boat, isn't it? I stopped drinking diet drinks years ago. The article I'm attaching is long, but if you read it all, you'll never drink a diet soda again. Aspartame turns to methanol and formaldehyde when digested, and the formaldehyde becomes formic acid, the same acid as in fire ant bites. Also, people need to stop blaming vaccines for autism. Aspartame may be the real culprit. The increase in the rate of autism since 1983 tracks almost perfectly with the rate of increase in Aspartame consumption.

No worries on the diet soda front. Another tactic by liberals to control your eating habits and guilt you to drink water or non-sweetened beverages. The article goes on to say you would have to drink a between 12-20 cans of diet soda every day to even worry about getting cancer from aspartame. I don't watch any of the new TV series so, no problem there. I do feel sorry for the rank-and-file entertainment workers who do not earn the big Hollywood bucks like actors, but have no sympathy for the pampered movie stars.

Glad to hear about the aspartame. I only drink an occasional diet soda. When the Hollywood actors go on strike, they shut down a lot of filming; and the rank-and-file workers must go on unemployment.

My doctor son-in-law has been against aspartame for years, he says it should have been completely pulled from the market long ago. Very bad for us...he said it would be better to drink one real soft drink (14 tsp sugar per can) than to drink endless diet ones.

I don't drink diet soda that often; but I still wish they would sweeten it with natural sweeteners. Probably too expensive.

@LindaOHio People often just want to eliminate the regular sugar due to calories or they are not supposed to have sugar for health reasons, diabetes, etc.
